Hey there guys.. just got my stang back, with my new 3.90 gears and JMS Chip.. and all I can say is wow. I can easily chrip them thru second and the giddyup is just amazing, and yes I have an automatic. Love the new mods. One qucik question though... I know of the dreadful 'humming' noise that some gears can cause, well while idling and crusing (35-40 mph) I can hear it very faintly, but it's not screaming. Is this alright or will it cause me a problem? While stomping on it they're quiet so I'm almost 100% sure there's nothing wrong. Also, I noticed after these mods that when I begin to brake, by car seems to jerk a little to help stop more and I'm thinking it's from the stiffer shift points that the chip brought on. Let me know what you guys think. Overall, very please with the new performance, much faster out of the hole. Thanks a lot guys.

that humming noise is possibly because you didn't break the gears in. The chip has set your shifting to a sportier program, so it will hold rpm longer while you downshift probably.

HogStang, congrats on the new gears. Not much info. on the 3:90's Around here. How's your RPM's at highway speeds. What do you tach at say 70 or 80 with the 3:90 and in OD?

You're hearing something at idle? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that would be gears...

If he's hearing ANYTHING at idle, its not the gears. If he hears a slight whine, it could be they are off on their pinion depth or backlash just slightly. Or, he could be a little low on differential fluid. Might want to take it back to the place that installed it and explain these things to them and see what they say.

I too have some gear whine when deaccelerating around 45mph. I haven't taken it back to the place that did the install, but I'm really not that worried about it. A friend of mine put in 4.10's into his car and has A LOT of whine. It's been this way for 3 years now

A little bit of sound is normal. Guys who can't hear it is because of there exhaust. My 4.10's stopped making any noise at all after I added an SLP catback.

The whine at deceleration or at slower acceleration is normal. Its the transmission whining and the gears sort of enforce it further than average.
