Ok so I know very little about gears and was wondering how much of a difference than can really make? Like what are the different shift points between stock gears, 3:55's, 3:73's, and 4:10's? This is all for a 95 GT that im very close to buying. It also already has all the basic bolt ons. Also which do you guys like the best? Tops Speeds anyone?

I think 3.73 is the all around best for a stock 5spd. The shift point rpms won't change by changing the rearend gear.

i would go 3.73's in a manual, 4.10's in auto, u would be at 3,000 rpm's in 4th gear doing 70 mph with 3.73's in a manual, but when racing i can get up to 110 - 115 by the end of 4th gear, 3.73's are fine for highway too, thats why we have that 5th gear, as far as how much difference they can make, you definitely feel them, it is well worth the money and should be one of the first mods you do to your car, but first... I would focus on actually buying that 95 gt first, lol.

Ha, yah im workin on it but thanks for the info guys. But like how fast would you be going at the top of first gear with stock gears and in 3:73's?? Thanks again.

I drive my stang as a daily driver and drag race it at about 10 events a year. My highway commute is not bad at all with 3.73s'. Now though, I wish I had gone to 4.10s'!!!! Oh well.

i installed 3.90s about a month ago. I like them alot. Freeway driving hasnt changed that dramatically. when im doing 70mph im at about 2500rpms

imo, 4.10s are too "short" for daily driving. i have 4.10s, and first and second gears go by way too fast.

knowing what i know now, i would have gotten 3.73s ...
