Hey what gear ratios are you guys running on the street? I'm getting all my info together for my 9 inch build. This car will be mostly street and some strip for ****s and giggles.

Also what type of differential would be good for mostly street but some track use?

Detroit Tru trac seems to work well for me.

3.70's is my gear of choice. It would be better if I had a five speed for any highway driving.

With your tranny and cam, I would recommed 3.89s or maybe even 4.10s. I run 3.50 with no overdrive and love em. If I had overdrive I would run more....

i'm running a currie 9" trac-loc and 4.11's, cruising 70 is approx 2550 with an AOD If you don't have an overdrive i wouldn't recommend going over 3.80's.

I've run 2.79's, 3.25's, and 3.89's. By FAR, the 3.89 is my favorite (with a FMX auto). I don't know what I crusied at on the highway (nor did I really care), but it wasn't THAT bad (and I had Flowmaster 40's). Seems like a good medium between neck breaking take off's and reasonable RPM's (plus in a 1/4 mile with a 26" tire I hit the finish at ~6000ish). I'm using the same 3rd member in my Cougar with a wide ratio Toploader. I have a Detroit Locker in that chunk, and would never bother with a LSD again. The Locker is absolutely great and I don't have a single complaint or regret about going with it. So, my favorite combination is a 3.89 Detroit Locker.
