Just curious as to what most guys are running- 19 or 20 inch rims?

I know the 19 gives you a little more sidewall, and is probably going to be a little less weight than the 20's- but you will also have to lower the car further to get the "look" with the 19's vs. the 20's.

Getting ready to buy some rims, and I'm leaning towards the 20's, but wanted to get some opinions before I made the plunge.

Just my opinion but the bigger the wheel over stock rims to me the worse it looks. I still like a little black tire showing. No need to put Armor-All and guys like that out of business.

My opinion is that all the 05 and up models only look good with the large wheels 20's would be best for the look and the 04's and older 18's are the biggest i would go.

19's will be harder to find tire sizes that look right

Unless those rims are forged, you'll be adding too much weight for proper spring response. Asian-made cast wheels may be tempting because of their price, but you're not doing yourself any favor as far as handling. For 50-years, Porsche didn't deliver cars with rims larger than 18". Now with recent mfging technology, Porsche offers 19" rims with acceptable weight. Multimatic developed the most successful Mustang race car in history with 18" Fikses. Check out the weights of HRE, Champion, and Fikse wheels. There's a reason that forged 18" wheels and tires are the best choice. But, if all that matters is the "coolness" factor, then forget everything I just wrote! LOL. Just my 2-cents.

ok i really have to ask. what would be the typical difference in weight(lbs) between say an 18-19-20 inch rim. i just dont see a whopping total of like 20-30 lbs making THAT much of a difference. i mean yes numerically in the 1/4 mi it might be a few hundreths but will it really be a seat of the pants kinda difference?

Ford "Bullitt" style from 17" to 18" is about 5-lbs. Five pounds is a huge penalty. See how long you can extend you arm and hold a 5-lb bag of sugar. One thousand one, one thousand two...............

i have 18" chrome deep dish bullits on my 06.....looking back, I wish I had 20s. The 18s look smaller than my 17s. I dont know if its because of the deep lip or what.

there is not that much a weight difference between 19 in and 20 in. i have 20x8.5 black bullitt replica wheels and toyo proxes 4's (255/35/20) on my car. the car is more nimble now with the shorter sidewall tire (as opposed to the 17s from the factory) plus it looks killer, but you need to watch out for pot holes or rail road tracks... that stuff jumps out at ya. plus i live around detroit. as for the 19 in tire they are more difficult to come by and cost a bit more in my experience (i work at a rim shop) many people have 20s on their cars, dealers offer them around here not to mention saleen as well. definatly go with the 20's you should save a few bucks plus you'll love the look.

It's a matter of taste and style.

I went for 20's but tried to keep the weight down with a slim 5 spoke design. I have the 9.5" rims on the front and 10.5" rims on the back, both wearing 275/35 Dunlop Powermaxx tires.

The weight of the stock wheel and tyres is something like 54lbs. The all up weight of the new wheel and tyre is around 64lbs so you're adding about 10lbs a corner. However, there wasn't much difference between the weights of the front and back rims and I surmise some of the weight gain is attributable to the tires themselves.

Besides, Saleen use 20's which look a lot heavier than mine and Roush use 19's.

Yeah- I am thinking a forged rim in a 5 spoke design also. Something as light as possible.

Well don't get the ones I got as they're no good for big brake kits and I've had a few issues with them (understatement of the century). I bought mine as I liked the lip but if you're going to go big brakes later on, the flush ones are compulsory.

I went frorm the stock 17's with 235/55 tires to 18' deepdish buillit replicas with 255/45 tires. I gained 5lb. a wheel/tire. Just a reminder that the wider tire will also weigh more.

What wheels are they?

I am looking at Shelbys wheels, or most likely, ones from ZeForged.

I would not go over 18" rim unless you are pimping out your ride!

I went with 20x8.5" Ultra Bullitts with 255/35zr20 tires. I love the combo. Looks great, handles great, and I can't tell a difference in acceleration. I am now running a JLT cai with sct2 tune and it's way faster than the stock setup.

Well, that may be, but the Saleens sure look hot and handle great to boot so there is a tried and tested reason to go with 20's.
