If you want to beat up on LS1 camaros get yourself some forced induction and dont look back. Make sure it has a good tune from someone who knows what they are doing and you will never have to worry about ending up with a window in your block.

The LS series of engines is bad ass but they are far from un-beatable in the camaro. Now in the vette thats a whole other story due to their lower weight, better gearing, and better aerodynamics. With those cars you need to be making at least 65 more hp to stand a chance.

I noticed in your sig that you had a C5z with 435 to the wheels. Was that with Full exhaust?

Stock, it dynoed 365-368rwhp(rated at 405hp). With headers, it dynoed 383-388rwhp. With a cam, it dynoed 435rwhp. Stock heads, etc. The LS1 is not much different. Two of my buddies have the same cam, same mods as me and dynoed 428rwhp, and 437rwhp with the same cam in their LS1 c5 vettes with stock heads. The 243(LS6) and 241(LS1) heads don't make much difference once you add bolt ons and a cam given that you don't touch the heads. Here is the idle clip from my C5Z. I've got all the dynoes if you want to shoot me a PM

Sounds mean! I want one bad! Will a C5 M6 ls1 hang with the zo6 if it had full exhaust stock cams?

interesting problem, something to consider, was the camaro stock or modified. After reading all replies how much are you willing to spend? myself I would go with the long tubes, full computer tuneup/ dial in, gears 4:10s an a competition clutch with suspension to make it hook up. Remember the old adage "Any thing you can do I can do better"

No, unless it has 4.10 gears. The C5z06 has an m12 transmission, making the overall gearing equal to a M6 with 3.73 or 3.90 gears. Also, the Z is lighter, and will have a slight power advantage over a C5 with exhaust. You would need a full bolt on C5 to hang with a C5Z. My best time stock, on the stock tires without any mods was a 12.2@115mph.

Thats a nice Z I have a C5 coupe the prices are down on them now you can even get a z06 for 15 grand if you look in the right place. The cool thing about the coupe how ever is you can take the targa top off the Z is a solid fix roof. But they look bad ass. Supossidly if you put the power train from the Z06 into the coupe the coupe is a much more aero dynamic car and you can reach better speed using that body. This is why corvette racing uses the coupe body for the C5R race car.

Yeah, I sold mine for not much more two years ago with a built rear, gears, cam, bolt ons, etc. It was a blast to drive. It is very debatable on the targa vs. FRC(fixed roof coupe, 99-00FRC, 01-04z06) on which is more aero friendly. My C6 is a targa and I can still put the top in the back with my nitrous bottle, cage, fire extinguisher, etc. Pretty neat. The reason for the debate is a couple of pretty fast FRC C5's. This one is shooting for 260mph in the standing mile and is over 2200hp right now. Hinson purposefully picked the FRC over the targa for high speed runs, and they know a lot about doing it.

We have arrived at the Ohio Mile!

3-23-2012
Unfortunately, we had to postpone the trip to Texas. We simply ran out of time to test before the race, and that is a long haul to ride untested. So we're planning to attend the Ohio Mile, which has 4 events this year. We'll be tested and ready.

3/23/2012
New numbers are in!

2,246 HP @ 7,800 RPM
34 psi

3-20-2012
We made our first pulls on the engine dyno! We made 1,870 horsepower on low timing and 27psi. We're turning up the boost and timing tomorrow. We'll run out of injector around 2,400 horsepower. Special thanks to Young's Performance, Lane Culver, Butler Performance, Ryan Carpenter, Buddy Anderson, and Noah Mitros for making this happen so quickly.

3-20-2012
We are headed for the Texas Mile on March 23-25! We are thrashing to complete the project now (3/20/12). We ran 224 mph on low boost with our previous build. We're looking to beat our own record and eventually compete for the world record for the fastest piston powered car. This new car is a combination of C5 and C6 parts resulting in extreme performance. We have built on the information gained from our previous car, and this ride is looking to push the boundaries for standing mile racing.

You know how when you're sitting in a jet-liner and you're just about ready to take off, then the pilot hits full power and you're thrown back into your seat? I think it's a little like that......just more violent lol

Dunno, 1500hp is the most I have been in, and it was fast. Very smooth though, because you are not hooking even at 150mph usually. Never been in a lambo in the 1500-1700rwhp though. Event at 700rwhp-1000rwhp range with the paddle shifter they are very violent cars with their dual clutch setups. The hit so hard when shifting gears. It's really hard describe the feeling of a modified lambo at 700-100rwhp vs a modified Ford GT, Vette, etc. It is just a completely different feeling. My car does 0-172mph in 15 seconds. A maxed out, on kill mode UGR lambo will do about 210-220mph in 15 seconds. World of difference.

Good looking c5! Like the rear bumper and wheels. Never did that on my rear bc it was black, but looks good on silver/red/yellow cars

A Lambo would be nice but I found a few Viper GTS's in my area in the 20k range . They are no Lambo but for the price and the shock effect you get when people see them they are close to the same level. One day lol
