ive been debating what gear to get but now i finally decided to go with 3.90's.. it would have been a no brainer if Ford made them but since they dont ive been kind of hesitant.. does anyone have experience with these gears? do they whine? if so..is it loud? are they good quality? thanx in advance

I've got Motive 3.90's in mine and have no problems. I love em'. They've got the top end of 3.73's but still has the bottom of a 4.10.

If you have an installer doing this for you, you might want to get their opinion. I spoke with Mustang Magic here on L.I., who has a lot of experience installing gears about which brand and they recommended Motive, but he did say that Pro 5.0 made very good gears as well. Pricing should be close enough for that not to be the deciding factor. Quality of the parts and whether a lot of work is going to be required over using FRPP gears would be what I would be concerned about. I like the 3:90 gears also and are a next year project for me - Motive brand.

IMHO, the reason why everyone recommends FRPP gears is b/c they are made in the USA and with better quality material..that also holds true with Pro 5.0 gears...Motive not as good a qualty material....so Pro 5.0 will give you less chance of noise and failure in the long run

Do it right. Get 4.10's from FRPP. And 4.10's will not reduce your top speed. I trap at 130 mph in 3rd gear, but that's with 28 inch slicks.

I recommend an EEC reflash..

if you're going to do speedcal, www.dallasmustang.com is pretty popular..

with reflash it's permanent unless you reflash it again... you also get many things done also (turn off MIL, bump up timing, etc..). And its cost is worth it

with speedcal, I believe you can change the ratio whenever you want..

but who changes their gear ratio every week anyway?
