well my plug came out of the head last week and it stripped the plug and the new plug didnt go in as well as the others did when i replaced it so im thinking this is gonna happen again so im thinking i should get the hole tapped is helo-tap the correct name for it? i usually do all the work on my car myself but im afraid if i over tap it ill have to get a new head and id rather take it into a shop and let them do it how much do you think this would cost to tap out one hole? and for some reason ever since it came out my mileage has been awful i dont know if that is related or not

I would suggest having a shop check it out.

p.s. My step dad and I did it in about an hour and a half to two hours taking our time and being careful, its really simple.

I just completed this using the Time Sert toolkit myself and it worked great. I will give you a good deal on an almost new Time Sert if you are interested, PM me.

Time Certs the way to go...i was talking to an engine builder who did it to all of his plug holes on his high horsepower Turbo car for added piece of mind.

Why did Ford build these aluminum heads with hardly any threads in the spark plug holes?
How stupid can they be.

This is ridiculous.

Do the 4 valve heads have more threads?
