Getting Blown Finally!

No twisty tracks yet! I went down once on the R1 in the twisties this year, so I decided to ease back and give my knee pucks a rest for awhile lol... I'm switching to a slower bike for the street/twisties and converting the R1 to drag duty (I'll PM you a pic of progress so far lol).

BTW how much boost are you gonna run on the KB? You should be able to make 450RWHP EASILY and safetly with that setup, should be a kick in the pants!

lol yea twisties are fun im starting in ccs next year and racing. but as for the car ill stay with 9psi for a lil while like 2 months then go with an 11psi pulley. i would like around 450rwhp. gotta start small like the nitrous lol. had the 50 on for a bottle then moved to the 100 then the 150 then 200 every now and then lol.

Emailed Hellion about the KB issue.

"Can the hellraiser kit be used with a KB Twin Screw s/c on a 2V motor instead of the Eaton roots unit the Cobras get?"

Answer:

"Absolutely. As long as the supercharger is a positive displacement type, that mounts the throttle body near the stock location, the kit will work.

"The most important thing to consider, however, is that the power is not coming from the supercharger, it's only there to provide low-end torque and help spool the turbos. So, with that in mind, it's important to spin the blower slow, like 8-10 lbs. of boost maximum. Then rely on the rest of the boost pressure fromt he turbos to make the hp."

good stuff man thanks for emailing them. thats what i figured and by the time i go with the compound boost kit i would only run 9psi on the blower again. i would want about 20psi total boost.

oh and dont anyone try this for about 2 years i wanna be the first to do this on the forum. so no stealing my idea lol

Ask them to post up a customer example or some real world testing/results. I'm sure they'll tell you anything you need to hear in order to sell you the kit....but think.....with all of the compound boost craze going on over the last year, why haven't we seen anyone post up a KB/Turbo combo? There are certainly enough KB owners out there with enough guts and money to try it out? :shrug:

Compression takes place between the screws on the Kenne Bell blower, not within the manifold below the unit like it does with an Eaton or centrifugal based kit. You can only fill and pressurize that area to such an extent before you either unable to achieve the desired results and/or as a byproduct produce unmanageable heat negating the results.....or worse yet do irreparable damage to the compressor, turbo or even bypass system themselves.

If someone’s able to post up some real world examples or results, I'll certainly be more receptive to the idea, but this seems to be the issue I was lead to believe is at hand. As it sits I really don't see how one would plan to overcome the actual physics or thermodynamic issues of the set up?

the reason why nobody has done it yet is it was more of a cobra kit so it could run off teh factory eaton. and most of the cobra guys probably arent going to pay big money for a kb then pay big money for a tt to go on top of that. but who knows its pretty new it just came out.
 
Don't see what thermodynamics has to do with it. Pressure is pressure nomatter where it occurs. Both units will be pressurizing pressurized air, thus the same heat will be generated.

The kit does come with an intercooler, though I don't see how you could mount it with a KB heat exchanger as well...

As for the boost being made between the screws, I'm not seeing why that's a problem either. I'm having a hard time visualizing what the airflow is like in them. Does air not flow to all sides of the screw? I understand that it's pressurized between. The only problem I see is if there was some extreme pressure differential between the inside and outside of the screws, but I would think it wouldn't be any different than normal. Turbocharged air flows into the unit and around the screws. Equal pressure on all sides, just like with unpressurized air.

Just thinking out loud. Not claiming to know what I'm talking about...
 
I would like to see if it works,I have a pair of turbos off a cummins diesel(to4's) that I have been tempted to install. the hardest thing I see is tuning. guess I would have to learn that first
 
im also kinda leary about ordering from a company i have heard of once and thats because it was discussed on this forum lol. while it may be a good kit companies can also go under and then what happens when they go out of business and something goes wrong with my kit where can i get parts lol. thats what im worried about

Just for future reference, the company has been around since 1988, but decided to release the product under a new company name, since it made more sense for the product.
 
well they called me and im in luck they had 3 kits already assembled and it will be getting shipped out on monday so if it comes next week it will be on by the weekend.

scratch that KB wont be on next weekend cause we are going to niagra falls that weekend so the weekend after it will be on. i thought we werent leaving till that monday but i guess not.
