getting gauges- which are more accurate?

are mechanical ones more accurate then electric? i need a water temp gauge, i figured the ellectrical would be moreexpensive but it turns on the mechanical one is more money so im not sure which to get, i want whichever one is more accurate. thanks

Get the electric. It is very accurate and easy to install.

Also, the general rule is for fluids get electric..for boost or vacuum you can get mechanical. You dont want fluids entering the inside of the car and being routed all over the place..more chance for leaks and problems.

I think most here would agree that the Autometer electrical gauges are fine.

The main reason mechanical gauges seem more accurate is that they have full sweep gauges and the electrical gauges have the 90 degree sweep. The full sweep gauges show the same range over a larger area, which can be read easier & more accuratly. Both have their drawbacks when installing.
