Hey I'm redoing part of my exhaust, and I'll be getting new mufflers to go with it. It'll be Mac shorties, some O/R Hpipe and just stop at the mufflers. I want it to be really obnoxiously loud. What is your experience with loud mufflers? I can get a real deal on some Flowtech Warlocks, but I don't know if those will be loud. Also if you have any info on what some of the muffler terms (like one chamber, or dumped) means, post that up too.

Thanks!

Dumped means you dump the exhaust straight down after the mufflers instead of putting tailpipes on, which always make it sound a lot meaner, but you'll have to deal with some exhaust fumes. Ass for chambers, I think the more chambers in a muffler the quieter it is. So go with one or two chambers if you're looking to be heard from far away. I personally love Flowmasters.

Chambered mufflers have, well, chambers inside to change the exhaust flow and give it that unique sound. Dumped means what you want to do, dump the exhaust right after the mufflers. If you have shorties, an o/r h pipe and put dumps on there you are going to be very loud. I can almost asure you as well if it is a daily driver you will get tired of it quickly. I have shorties, o/r h, and a full MAC catback and it is nice and loud.

My car pretty much just stock with boltons is loud as hell with mac headers and off road h pipe with flowmaster one chamber and dumps before the axle. The car will set off any car alarm i'm near when it's at idle, which is sweet in itself, but the sound is tremendous!!! Everyone i've talked to says they've never heard a car sound so good!!! Fumes may knock ya out, but sound is worth it

i had mac dumps and they were LOUD, too loud i got tail pipes now. if your in traffic alot you might want to invest in a gas mask as well.

LOL that is funny man ;) That would look insane a dood driving around in a loud ass car with a gas mask on due to the fumes haha

If you want insanely loud, OR H w/ 1 chamber Flows. But it's going to sound like a nasty NASCAR exhaust. And you might have some pinging/back firing when you let off the gas.

The best my car ever sounded was w/ a cat h pipe, and "turbo tube" (i.e. glass pack) mufflers. Real deep grumble, screamed when you got on the gas. But, rust got the better of that combo.

I currently have an O/R H, w/ DynoMax mufflers. I really like them. Same thing, low tone at idle, but shouts at WOT. But not as loud over all as the old set up.

I ran dumps for a while, but the fumes suck. So, now I have tail pipes.

One thing to keep in mind w/ dumps is to make sure that they don't blow on the axle, or you risk the chance of damaging your brake fluid.

1 chamber flows sound too raspy to me. id gt some 2 cambers, still loud. there is not really any way to reroute dumps seeing as how they turn down right after the muffler. they are also called turndowns. ill post up a pic if i can find one of dumpe mufflers.

As some mentioned earlier, its all how "loud" you want it...some poeple like 2 chambers flows dumped because they have a deep tone, some people liek race magnum mufflers because they are just flat out loud, its your call, both are loud, but one has a dif. loud then the other

The new Outlaw flowmasters (i.e. the bullet style ones) look like they would be very loud.I would run them a couple of feet back, then bout 6" of pipe, then put a 45* cut on it.Will be loud as hell.Im talking just short of open headers.

If not,the Bassani Real Street mufflers are supposed to be LOUD at WOT.

The Dynomax race bullets are the loudes thing on the planet it thing :p They really are not a muffler. They are some exhause pipe with a little insulation around them :D I tired them and they were too loud for me. They were so loud it hurt your ears to drive the car :notnice: I have some Magnaflows on the car now and they are good and loud but I don't care much for the sound. I tried some Hooker Aerochambers and I LOVED them. They had a real low rumble at and idle and a super raspy sound when you got up higher they rocked

Just remember, your local laws. I know most places have a db limit on your cars exhaust. Some places just ignor it but I know my town doesn't and I had the court date to prove it :p

My car has flowtech equal headers, o-r hi pipe ( actually stock pipe with no cats) and 2 flows then it stops. I think they are the 2 chamber, its pretty loud.

When i first got my car, OMG the car was insanly loud, now i am used to it. If you sit in my back seat the exhaust will make voices vibrate, kind of like talking into a fan, sometimes it does it in front also.

With a dumped exhaust i find it thats its always loud.

Like there is this black mustang, his exhaust is loud but only if he is really getting on it does it really start screaming.

Mines louder when cruising and at idle also.

I dont know about these exhaust fumes thing, i never smell gas or anything....

You will get tired of the loud mufflers when you collect some tickets and can't hear the radio/stereo unless the volume is turned up into the pain zone.

my exhaust, need help!

I have flowmaster exhaust right now and i got the mufflers taken off and had it repiped out the back of my car. would i make my car louder if i cut them off sooner then the back? and is that legal, will it pass smog if i kept the cats on, just shortened the exhaust to end midway through my car?

You can't go wrong with a flowmaster. however, the Mac's are pretty cheap and you can by a complete cat back- dump system really cheap. So cheap infact that it would cost you less or the same as the pair of flowmasters + you can install the yourself and save a lot of money. The Mac's have good sound too.
