Hey guys i have a diablosport predator and i was wondering if i should get a custom tune. So far the stangs engine mods are upper intake plenum, 75mm tb, pulleys, shorty headers, off-road h pipe, magnaflow side exhaust, clutch, flywheel, and 4:10's. I was also wondering what you guys thought of mail order tunes or if i should go to a shop or diablo dealership. I just want someone that you guys trust, and have had a good experience with. I live in western maryland and would drive a while to get this done right so if anyone has an advice id really appreciate it.

I have K&N FIPK, Accufab TB/Plenum, LT's, O/R prochamber, Mac Cat-back, Pulleys and the Predator. I put the timing all the way up and the car ran good. Then I got a tune from a very reputable shop. I'm sure they gave me a safe and the best tune for my car with my mods BUT my SOTP said I had a stronger car before the tune. Problem was they never did a baseline dyno with my timing maxed to see what it ran so I could compare. So all I have is SOTP and that tells me it was stronger before tune, but was it safe, too lean? Don't know. The tune I have now is safe.
I would say max the timing, if you have good gas in your area, and be happpy with that. If you get some serious upgrades like blower, cams, heads then go to the dyno for a custom tune.

Do it the right way and go to a shop and let them work off the Predator tune you already have in it. If I would have just maxed timing on my Mach, I would have been losing horsepower and torque big time.

Why would you have lost hp and torque?
There was an article running around here about maxing out the timing on a predator and the gains involved. I think Propellerhead had it. He's knows alot about the predator stuff.
I gained more hp and torque, by SOTP and spin factor in 2nd and 3rd gear by maxing timing.
It probably is best to dyno tune, but I would save my money until I had more mods, but that's just my personal experience with predator tune and a dyno tune.
No flame intended crazyhrse, just asking why. :)

most people with mach 1s actually gain hp from retarding timing with the predator. The gts are what you want to max the timing out to gain hp.

This was true in my case. When the tuner guy added timing, HP and TQ dropped off. When he retarded it, I kept gaining more and more HP and TQ. I have no experiemce with the newer GT's. I had two Fox body GT's before my Mach.
