Ok, I hav MAC long tubes sitting in my garage with a pypes off road x pipe, that will need some work to fit anyways...I wanted to go with long tubes becasue I did alot of research and I thought they would be the best bet in the long run...long run means ( h/c/i nitrous). I am gong to have to do some work to get the x pipe to fit or I wil need to buy something else, should I go ahead and install the long tubes even though the car is mostly stock now? I fig id I do it now, its then done with. What ya think?

absolutely. Long tubes do have their problems (i.e. clearance, heatsoak and other small things), but they can all be worked with and pretty much eliminated. Longtubes will give you the sound and power that shorties simply cant deliver.

I would not run Long Tubes on a street car. I have had a couple different sets of them including MAC and BBK and I don't feel the problems and issues are worth the extra headace in my book.

I like shorties just fine.

:werd: on the long tubes

there a bit extra work and you may have to remove them a few times when doing other repairs. but after you have tore you car apart and put it back together enough times you get used to it

i will vote for shortys if you drive it daily.

i have shortys on my car and didnt want to deal with the extra headaches for power i will never use. some people beat the piss out of their car everyday though and would benefit from it i guess.

mac longtubes have been known to cause alot of problems. usually just fitting them on there as im sure you know. if you want to deal with all that, go for it.

On a car with a charger or a turbo how much gain is over shorties? I have always heard that shorties are better for top end power, and LT's are good for down low?

there has been alot of tests done and the results always seem to varie.

ive seen no gains, to 30 torque across the board.

damn....are Mac lt's the ones that you need to run the steering shaft through?

yeah it is....I was looking at them the other day and there is a pretty good size "gap" between the two tubes that it seems it would run through, but what im gonna do is I go to install these is wait till winter when the car is in the garage and I can take my time and do it
