well as of right now im more than likely gettin a 331 built for my graduation present. only thing not for sure is the short block im gonna use. i have a couple options.
1. a friend with a factory short block with 76,000 miles on it(not sure how much he is gonna charge)

or

2. DSS racing 331 shortblock

just waitin on a price from my friend on that factory shortblock.

but if i dont get to do either of those the Trickflow H/C/I is on the way and will get put on motor that i have now. So its a win-win for me either way

i really hope i can do the 331 cuz if i do ill have a spare bullet sitin in the garage in case somethin happens. plus the power is gonna be tremendous!!

First of all stay away from DSS. Second how much money are you working with?

Let me know also check this place out...http://www.fordstrokers.com/331-stroker-rotating-kits-c45.html

seems like their quality has been down since their business has grown.

I know a few guys that lost motors built by DSS
Sure could be tuner error but when your oil sparkles after only 200 miles somethin aint right...

8.5 @ 74 in the 1/8th? WOW I have been 8.4s in the 1/8th on radials but my cars usually going 84-85 mph. 74 seems like a LOW, extremely LOW mph for even a car wearing slicks to go mid 8s in the 1/8th. Any info on the slip?

Also I would just grab the D.S.S. one as the machine work on the stocker your picking up will probably cost you $1000-1200 or so.

I have heard of good success from DSS, and bad.

Your best bet is to speak with Rick on this site

www.rnhperformance.com

You may also want to consider a 347 while you are at it, since you have not bought the parts yet.

Well it's up to you who you purchase it from but I vote you just get an assembled and balanced shortblock, it will only be like 1 or 2 hundred more and less work for you.

well yeah it is a pretty low mph but i think i have too much gear on a stock motor. i ran a 8.42 @ 76.8 yesterday so its gettin better. the 331 will help that . but yeah we are gonna get the DSS so can have the stock motor as a spare.

should be lookin at 400 FWHP with trickflow kit and 331

Agreed. Post the info off the slip, that doesn't sound right at all. My Lightning ran 8.86 @ 80.90mph with a 2.05 60' on street tires at 1900' elevation. My buddies 95 GT with pullies, O/R H pipe, gear and DR's ran 8.80 @ 79.xx range at the same track. Something def isn't right on that.

well for one thing, the track i run at is 60 ft short of an 1/8th mile, so thats probly one reason why the mph is low. it is weird how im runnin a faster time than yall but with a slower mph. i dont much understand that either but ill post the slip.

well i actually had a couple of mph mistakes here are two of my slips though

RT- .2529
60ft- 2.07
330ft- 5.88
594ft- 7.95
1/8th et- 8.5639
1/8th mph- 74.40

RT- .1850
60ft- 2.0310
330ft- 5.80
594ft- 7.8289
1/8th et- 8.42
1/8th mph- 76.13

Well theres your problem, if your not racing on a true 660' track then thats why your timeslip "seems" messed up.

yeah i know that. i was just tryin to show everyone why it was like that. but its still not a bad time for a stock motor with bolt ons, gears, and street tires

and how did we go from talkin about a 331 stroker to my timeslips?? can we go back to the motor now?? lol

Drop the 331 and go 347. And you can get a good shortblock from Ford Stroker with Probe internals.

i have herad that since the piston skirts on the 347 are so short that once they get some heat in em they start to warp and wallow out the ctylinders and therefore you start usin oil. so ill stick with my 331
