i was in the car w/ the 4.10 rear end i'm trying to get and the guy was hitting the rev limiter in like no time.....which i guess made the car feel like it had no time to move, it was just like 1st gear -redline 2nd-redline,and thats it...it didn't seemed like it moved as much as a stock 3.27'd t-5 stang shouldve have....

What were you trapping? I run a 26" (25.7 I think) tall tire and with 3.73s trapped 109.27 and was nowhere near the rev limiter. My brothers car with a 26" tire and 4.10s has been 110 in the 1/4 and the shift lite set for 6000 had just come on. You must have been moving or have a really short tire to be at 6250 at the end of the track...
IMO, that car will be a blast on the street but you definitely better have your pedaling skills in order. lol I have no experience with nitrous though and honestly that sounds pretty scary for a car on street tires. Unless you plan on not squeezing until you hit 3rd gear.not much of a different animal, if is going to be serious like making the car unable to impress frineds cause im shifting before the car actually moves lol. which is what it sounds like then its not for me but if its just a neck snapping major shifting required mod then it is for me....and 3.73 vs 4.10 is like 250 hp vs. 270hp come on guys as long as it seriously isnt overkill than im good like cruising at 5k going 30mph

You would have to force me to put anything but a 4.10 in my car n/a or spray'd especially. Ive had 4.10s for a very long time, with a stock transmission and a TKO 600. The TKO 600 even has the .84 5th gear so I cruise at about 60mph....
Its all opinon based. I learned early on that gear + good tires = profit.
IIRC, it was 15.0 @ 98 MPH (yeah I know, crappy 1/4 time for that speed - no traction, stock LCA's with worn-out bushings, quads, and fairly new street radials, I had like a 2.2 or 2.3 60-foot). I had my shift light set to 5800 RPM and the light was glaring at me well before I passed through the traps in 4th gear. I think I still have the video of the run up on my Myspace page. This was done on 225/60/R15 Fuzion HRi's. I could've shifted into 5th, but considering how close I was to the end, it would've been pointless and only slowed me down.

Well, let me rephrase mine and say useless unless you know how to regulate the throttle. If you only intend to floor it, then yes, 1st and 2nd are useless, but then again my 3.73s equipped stock cammed car is useless in 1st and 2nd if your driving like that. A good driver could make use of 4.56s, a bad driver can blow the tires off in my old 4 cyl Mustang...

410'S are waaay to much gear for the stock cam. As others said, it renders 1st gear useless!
thats your opinion. I would still never go with anything less than 4.10s if youre really serious about going fast on an NA or sprayed setup.
A good driver can use 4.88's also!It doesn't mean that they equate the best over all gear for drag racing.
I'm just going against your blanket statement that with a stock cam 4.10s are useless on the street and saying that a good driver can make use of them. It doesn't equate to them being the best drag gear either, not sure where I said that or where that came from?
Who can blatently say what gear is the best or worst without trying everu gear for every combo? Noone that I know of. Educated guesses work, but then again a blanket statement of 3.55s for 5-speeds and 3.73s for AOD cars doesn't even give an educated guess, just a general response that came from WAAAY back in the day (long before I ever had a fox). As a matter of fact the 3.55 and 3.73 thing has since gone way to the idea that 3.73s for a 5-speed and 4.10s for an AOD seem to be more optimal.
As it sits we have 3.55s in an 89 GT, 3.73s in an 89 LX and 4.10s in an 86 GT, ALL with stock cams. I have driven all 3 back to back on the same day, same roads, etc... The 3.55s are very weak, the 3.73s make a nice compromise, and the 4.10s are the scariest, but the most fun when you know what your doing. To add to this debate my brothers car with the 4.10s used to have 3.55s, car actually has been faster with the 3.55s, but is much more fun to drive with the 4.10s. He doesnt plan to go back either, just build a motor to use the steeper gear...
