I've never dragged before and am curious what goals I should set. I don't have any mods and am bone stock pretty much:

2001 GT Vert
K&N Intake
H&R 1.2" lower kit
MAC full exhaust system

I was hoping for mid-14s. Is this unobtainable?

Where do you live?Shoot for high 14s so you aren't disappointed when you pull a 2.4 60ft.The first time you are nervous, an that plays a big role.I pulled 14 flat in my 01 vert stock, but it wasn't the first time at the track.Good Luck and have fun

You should see mid-14's with some practice. And I don't mean street practice, cus it's different at the track. The very first time I ever made a pass I spin HARD through the first 2 gears and ran a 15.9!! I got it down to a 15.4 the next run. Just don't worry about your reaction time (trying to take off right as the light turns green) because it does NOT effect your ET. Just have fun is the most important thing.

Okay, I'm taking all these tips as mental notes. Hehe. I know I'm going to be nervous and spin out 1st real hard. I just KNOW it. Palms all sweaty and then slip off the shifter.

Anything else I should note?

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A STOCK VERT GO FASTER THAN MAYBE 14.20'S (COBRAS EXCLUDED)AND I'M AT THE TRACK ALOT.(NOT ALWAYS RACING) YOU MUST BE HELL OF A DRIVER. I'M SURE IF I LEFT THE LINE AT THE LINE AT 4500-5000 RPMS MY TIMES WOULD BE BETTER.

yeah dont worry about the burnout, skip the box. i mean you could just spin them for a sec, dont go crazy. try launching at like 2200 and dump it, but dont stomp on it right away, wait for it to catch then stomp on it, try not to get too excited with the 1-2 gear shift that is a key shift, i had a bad night one night and missed it twice. Then bang third quickly. My best with just o/r x-pipe and flows was 13.9 with street tires. Best bone stock was 14.3. I know people say just race for time dont worry about the other guy, well the other guy was a new Neon. I got mad and said to myself, "he's not beating me." So i basically raced him, and said forget about the time. I did end up beating him in the race but he beat my time, he pulled a 13.7 to my 13.9. Fun night, good luck!

No it was 14.5 with DRs and 3.73s. I ran a 14.3 stock sans K&N filter. I just think that practice makes the master. In my case I need a personal dragstrip, because I suck at the track, on the street is a different thing

Dump at 2200??? That sounds like the perfect way to bog the car. Yeah, we've got the low end that a litte Honda doesn't, but that doesn't mean you WANT to go through it. I've been too low launching before, the car bogged off the line and the time sucked. Forget it.

Then there was the time I left the traction conrol on. That sure as hell took the wind out of my sails on the 1-2 shift.....I thought I had broken something until I saw the little green light on in the cluster. I was a happy camper.
