Going to install Gears! cost and ?? 3.73's or 4.10's ????

How much did everyone pay in labor and I still cannot decide whether to get the aluminum drive shaft while I am at it and also whether to get 4.10's or 3.73's I do alot of high way driving at 70-75 so I think I am going with the 3.73's! thanx

the gears themselves ,I bought off of ebay, aren't that expensive...you're gonna pay more for the install, about $250.00 on average. if you have an auto get the 4.10s but if you have a manual the 3.73s seem to be better, or so i have read throughout threads. i have motive brand b/c they don't wine as bad as the frpp (also what i've read through the threads)....hope this helps

Street Motor Sports Virginia Beach... they will do gears and install for $360 but thats kind of a hike for you... if your not going to supercharge it 4.10's your not going to tell that big a diff in the RPM's from 3.73 to 4.10... I talked to a guy at dyno day last week that wished he would have went 4.30's I dont know about all that...

that would be considered highly overpriced in south carolina...but its your shop and if people are payin it more power to ya

My Shop In Virginia charges $180 and thats with them supplying the bearings.

go for the 3.73s. Most prices I've seen run anywhere from $380 to $500 for full parts plus install. The prices seem to be towards the higher end if done at a dealership or a place that guarantees there work for the lifetime of ownership. Personally, I wouldn't have the work done at a dealership, given the higher prices, but I thought I'd throw that price in there in case you installation location options are kinda slim.

Yea thanks for the info I hear that you have to buy an install kit along with the gears that comes with a pinion seal and a crush sleeve. I have a buddy who goes to this guy for all of his stuff like that and he will probobly do it for me. I would like to know how many people have 4.10's in their auto's and how many miles on the gears. I definitely want the 4.10's now but am wondering if it will wear my engine down running it at high rpms for 30 minutes at a time??? that is the only reson I would get the 3.73's

i have 4.10s and an auto....no problems and from what i've been told throughout threads as well as technicians 4.10s on an auto and high revs does not hurt the modular engines at all. GO FOR IT!!!

Get 4.10s, put 'er into 5th and cruise. Got both...wish we had 4.10s in both.

About $450 for the gears (4.10's) and install. Mines there right now getting installed. Can't wait

so 4.10's seems the way to go and everyone tells me it won't hurt the motor so I guess 4.10's it is I just hope it doesn't burn that much more gas??

Ah do 4.30's now....that way you'll never have buyers remorse. Only if you're staying N/A though..

I thought with 4.30's you run out of gear at the end of the 1/4? shift into 5th..

Hey, I've got a set og 3.73's with exactly 9,548 miles on them (I replaced them with 3.27's to make my wife happy...) I'm putting them on email tommorrow, if you want them I'll send you some picks.

goin to put 4.10s in this saturday, was quoted about 565 for gears, intall kit, speedo corrected, and of course intall and that is walking in, they carry the parts them selfs, and i have read some good things around the place! so im ok with it

Nope....I was afraid that I might but made a few passes last year with no problems..
