Well, i was going to swap in a 2.3 Turbo from a 88 turbo coupe however, a guy i work with is selling 2, 5.0's to me for $100 so it looks like ill be doing that instead... unless i find another 2.3 mustang, then i could probably put one of the v8's in that, and still swap..... oh well

Nice deal, but I think it's going to come back and bite you in the ass, especially when it comes time to fill up. It might cost a tiny bit more for a 2.3 turbo (you have to find one first too) but it will quickly pay for itself at the gas pump, especially with gas as expensive as it is now. You'll be crying when your getting 17 mpg in your 5.0 and you have to fill it up with $2.00 a gallon gas.

hehe, i think you patrol here teal waiting for anyone to post about 5.0 gasmileage...my 88tbird gets about 17 around town and a little over 21 on the highway (gets better the longer its on the highway moving) ..around town id go with a 2.3milage over my 5.0, still depends more or less on how you "drive" the car i guess~

Those aren't HO motors. SInce they have manifolds they look like town car engines. Depending on the year they are 180-200HP and 250 TQ.

I think those AOD's are 1" longer than a Mustang AOD requiring a custom driveshaft. I would sell em both and convert to a 5-spd anyway.

There are quite a few parts you need to change to make those 5.0 HO motors. bottom end is the same but you'll need different cam, heads, injectors, upper intake manifold and throttle body and ditch the manifolds

Well, not only do they face the other way, 87+ spec HO intakes are a little bigger internally too
