Good Brakes for a 95gt

What is a good front brake set for cheap for a 95 gt, i drive alot and im basically just not satisifed with my stoping speed. my pads are in good condition, but rotors are warping, so lemme know if u have any good suggestions, Thx

That's a no brainer. Swap to 94-04 Cobra front brakes. The kit is $400, and it's a direct replacement.

yup...i got that kit...took maybe 2 hours max from getting the car in the air until touch down...and they look good too.

I got the same kit too but I got the slotted and C/D rotors. I love it. SO much better than stock.

I have a set of bullit calipers and rotors with stainless steel hoses i may be getting rid of.

Make sure that you switch the master cylinder, your brake pedal will feel better and you will get better response

If you wanna spend a bit more...Baer has a new twin piston brake setup that uses the corvette c5 calipers instead of the PBR (cobra calipers) and they say that the initial stopping distances are better then the brembo cobra R setup. I dont remember how much it costs though.

The stock brakes on sn95's are already good, and are still pretty decent even compared to today's standards. Having said that, that cobra brake set up you guys have is sweet. 400$ is not a bad price either.

i have the Baer dual piston set up with the cross drilled, slotted rotors and cobra pads and crossdrilled, slotted rotors on the back and i have all stainless steal brake lines and new master cylinder. i love it, it stops on a dime.

Ah, you've hit on something I've been wondering about. I'll be upgrading to the Cobra kit (actually, the Bullitt kit; same thing), and was wondering about the master cylinder. I hope I'm not hijacking this thread - I think it's on topic.

What master cylinder would be better? 94-95 Cobra? 93 Cobra? I presume the point is to get a larger bore, to increase the force applied when you push down the pedal.

Do you need to swap out the proportioning valve as well? I've heard something about the 94-95 GT/V6 and Cobra's lines being switched, to avoid accidentally putting the wrong one on the wrong car.

Is the brake booster different between the V6/GT and Cobra?

Be careful what you buy. The Corvette C5 uses the same PBR calipers as the Cobra. There be a reason the low-end Baer kit looks just like Cobra brakes .

I DID get a "cheap upgrade".

I found a set of used PRB's with rotors for $100. I definitely would have rather gotten the Cobra's, but for the price, I couldnt pass it up. Not like stopping in a Mercedes, but definitely better than the originals.

When I did mine, I didn't change the master cylinder, and when my buddy did his, he did. We both think that my pedal "feels" better, and they both stop within 1% of each other acording to the Gtech, sometimes mine was better, sometimes, his... niether of us changed the proportioning valve. He used the MC that came with his kit, which I belive to be a '94-5 Cobra.
