If you live downstate or on Long Island you are probably familiar with the dyno emissions test. It severly limits what mods you can get away with. I had my car inspected Saturday. Turns out that the law has changed. If your Mustang is a 1996 or newer, they just plug into your EEC and look for a "Check Engine" light. No more dyno. They don't even have to raise the hood.

i had my car inspected two weeks before thanksgiving. i had to find a new place to inspect my car, as were i always used to go, the shop had closed up. i thought it was strange that i had no problem finding a place to inspect the car this year, and the first place i went to, inspected it with no problems. he even told me that they dont put it on the dyno. i thought they were going to us another car to test it. i was unaware untill now that they have changed the inspection testing.

I live in putnam where where just have the 96 and up plug and play deal. I have a 94, but dont even have to worry about anything because my bosses pass my car anyway:D . I used to work at a shop in westchester where we had the dyno. Those were pains in the ass. All vehicles 95 and older had to be put on the dyno. I think its the same way all counties lower than westchester as well.

My bro lives in Manorville. Conte Point Estates I believe. I'm surprised that you didn't have to dyno b/c your Stang is a 1993.

yea but if theres one code in your pc even if you clear your check engine ligh you fail. My buddy is a NYS inspector. Its not all that great for you guys. Esp the ones w/ o2 eliminators.

If you clear the EEC just prior to inspection, you will fail. It won't have enough drive cycles on it. o2 eliminators are fine. I have my EEC reflashed and the O2 sensors are turned off forever. I passes no problem. Since it doesn't throw a code, it passes.

If I had the time and cash right now, I could slap VT stage 1 cams in the car and pass emissions. I couldn't with the dyno & smog/exhaust check.
