good tires for traction?

im going to be buying 15x8.5 rims for the rear and i was planning on using like a 275/60/15 tire? my rearend is a couple inches narrower than stock. what are some tires that will give me the best traction? i dont drive my car in the rain.i dont want to have to replace them all the time cuz of wear. less than $100 each would be nice too but they can be a little more.

if u want to hook up, on the street or track a drag radial is a must. Nitto, BFG, Mickey Thompson now all make great performing tires and this can be seen by the NMRA and FFW drag radial classes dragging their bumpers and running low 8s on them.

if you want more life, then BFG and MT are likely out. Ive run nittos on my street car for around 5 years now and will never go back to a plain jane radial. Ive gotten a lotta milage outta each set and saw heavy rain on many ocassions with no worries.

Once u realize u can actually get traction on the street, u will never go back. I do beleive nittos offers a 275/60/15 as well, and theyre ~$140

M&H makes tires that comes in 3 different types of compounds for the street. The are one of the best tires for high hp cars on the street. I have used BFG and Nittos which are great for radials but don't come close to the M&H racemasters

Kumho tires offer great bang for the buck. the 711/712s are directional tread for usually under 100$.

sitdown, do u have a link to where i can see those nitto's? i am also looking to get traction on the street, but after an accident about a month ago in the rain, i am worried about traction....

a drag radial like a nitto or mt isn't going to last very long on the street.

sorry to lead you on, i was refering to good tread life for a Drag radial opposed to bfgs DRs/et streets/sportmsans etc...true a DR will barely last 1/2 as long as a regular radial, but the nitto is the happy medium between tread life and traction. Simply put no regular radial is gonna hook (im sure ill get flamed here) so you must decide whats more important to you.

You can expect to see ~10-15k miles outta the nittos, but it really depends how many trips to the track u make and the burnout length. my car is only a summer car and run slicks at the track so i expect to get ~15k outta them on the street. As for BFGs, they last ~1/2 as long as the nittos but provide for better traction
