I'm gonna buy a set on these tires. 245/45/R17 for the front and 315/35/R17 for the rear. Any pros and cons with these tires?

I have a set of the 315's and they are great. I have about 20000 on them and they still have good tread left. Plus they hook way better than the stock goodyears.

The only Con is that they are expensive....

yeah, the cost is unreal on them... I'd check into the sumitomos from tirerack, like $115 for 315/35/17 in the back, my friend loves them on his 500HP Z28, especially for the price.

I love em, huge difference compared to the Nitto's i'd been running for years. Traction is great...wet or dry. And the look in nice to. Everytime i pull behind my mustang the tire tread pattern just jumps out at you. I have 285 rears so 315's will look that much sicker!!

Yeah they are expensive. But I got the hook ups at American Tire Co. and Just Tires. So I just have to see who gets the better discount. Looks like the rain season started early here is So Cal.

Although it may sound a little silly, it didn't ruin the image of the setup: I saved a little money by buying Sumitomos 275s for the front and the Eagle 315s for the back, as opposed to buying Eagles all the way around.

I guess I'll just buy 2 of them since the fronts are still good.

I got mine for real cheap compared to what they normally run. I found a tire wholesaler that sold to me for much less then most places. Plus GoodYear just had a tire special if you opened an account. 90 days same as cash and $80 off. I love mine so far and they are sticky as can be. Where I used to be able to launch and do a nice burn out, now the tires dig in and no smoke.

My F1s look hot too!

I replaced my worn rear tires with GS-D3's a few months ago, and new fronts just showed up at my door via UPS this afternoon The wet increased wet traction is why I really went with these tires, and they definatly perform in that regard!

F1s are the best!!

Definitely go with the F1 GS-D3s - they are worth the extra cash!! I have the 315s rear and 245s front - the dry hook up is fantastic and the wet performance can't be beat.

Before...

After...

I have the same front/rear tire combo and I'm satisfied with it. I'll eventually go F1s all around but will stick with the front Sumis until they wear out.

anyways, the only bad thing I can say about the F1s is, as mentioned earlier by someone else, they are expensive.

Car And Driver High-Performance Tire test

I saw a similar thread on another web site. Here is some good info on tires. The F1 GS D3's are about mid pack on price when compared to the other 10 tires. Cheapest tire was $99 most expensive tire was $179. The Goodyear's are $145.
