Well last time I posted here I was looking for something economical, but I ran into a 98 Explorer XLT 5.0 AWD 109,000 miles, I couldn't pass up. Im the 3rd owner and since we don't live far from our jobs Im not sweating the gas mileage. The seller was asking 2900.00 but I drove it and heard a bad hub bearing, and the guy was painting some lawn chairs and got over spray on it, so I talked him down and got it for 2300.00. So far I did the hub bearing myself, and clay barred the whole truck, and put a starter in it, and some plugs, I got discounts for all parts from work. The truck runs great the AC is ice cold, has all the toys including a hitch and sun roof. I also eliminated the rear 2 cats and put a Flowmaster on it, it's got the P heads and the better intake on it. Im looking for a CAI for it and thinking of doing some other stuff, perhaps 1:7s RR, I wonder if the 165s heads would work Heck I can't seem to leave well enough aloneView attachment 310029

i had one and loved it. i miss it sometimes actually. very nice reliable cars. keep your eyes on the front ball joints. we had three explorers in that model range and all had ball joints constantly going.

Yeah it's got original ball joints and front end so they don't have grease fittings, but I got the little hypdermic needle thing and greased them all up, it just makes a tiny hole
