Got a new Mustang.... Few questions, and parts I need

hey all

I'm finally back in a Mustang! I missed manual sooo bad My first 4.6 as well.

Car is a wrecked 97 GT 4.6 S/C... Drivetrain is great, body is a bit banged up though. I spent some time straightening fenders today.. Hood isn't on because I need a new hinge.

I need a new rear axle, this one is bent. Anyone local to Raleigh NC have one? What kind of price should I expect to pay for a complete axle? What years will fit 97?

I also need a headlight panel (panel headlights bolt to) a set of rear tail-lights, and a set of 2 hinges. (or maybe I'll just get a set of 4 hoodpins, haha)

94-98 directly

86-98 if you can swap all your brake parts over to the Fox axle

99+ are wider

Thanks for the info.. As far as the 99's, would they bolt right in, fit up correctly? I'd like the rear to be a bit wider, so my wheels/tires aren't tucked 5 inches under the wheelwells

It would bolt in, but you would need to transfr the brakes likes from your current rear end to it as the brake lines on the 99+ run from the caliper directly to the body.

The 99+ rear is about 0.75" wider each side than the 94-98 rear

$3,500.. Found it in the SN Classifieds.

Headlights are set in there, not bolted in. Yes, they're ricey, and I'm gonna put Cobra's in instead.

3500 for a stang with a blower installed, cobra rims and a OK body that just needs a little TLC.....great buy. I'd say you made a killer purchase, the car looks pretty good, it just needs a little love.

I'd just be worried about how things line up with these unibody shennanigans. I don't think I'd ever buy a wrecked mustang because I know myself too well and that would bother the hell out of me not knowing for sure that everything was straight, even if it didnt matter.

I agree with you there. However, I purchased this with the intent of turning it into a dedicated track-only car eventually. All damage was cosmetic except for the axle I mentioned. Roadcourse track is hard on the body, so I feel a lot better messing up a car that's already messed up, than taking a straight GT and ruining it.
