Well i have a buddie that just put the anniversary cobras on his car, he had the same wheels as me but with nittos on the rear pretty new, and i just bought them off of him for 50 bucks rims and tires.


Some questions, what is the best method to get traction from these tires, i plan on giong to the track for T&T next friday night

thing i need to know

air pressure
smoke 'em or just spin off the water
what launch rpms
HOW ARE THEY GONNA HOOK

I like to run 15psi air pressure at the track, smoke them for a good 7-8 seconds, and I could launch at 5000rpm and they hooked great. Nittos need to be heated up nicely to hook well. What size are they though?

i run 18 psi and smoke them for about 10 sec. i launch at 2500.. i have an auto tranny. my 60ft is 1.72. u will have to wait till the tire wear out a little then they will hook up much better.

What size rim and tire do you have? PLus what is the life on these tires?

Why have I not seen you before. I look for AODE peoples setups. How do you like that cam? Does it have a rough idle and do you stall much?

it is either a 7.5 or 8 i think it's the pony wheels for a 95 etc., and they are the 245-50-16's.

1105 they really held a launch at 5000, that's pretty dang impressive.


im looking forward to hitting the track next friday, i will have a new set of underdrives on the nitto's and my fan will finally be working right, it was running very very warm last time, and very humid, and the best i could mange was like a 2.2 60, 1.3 reaction(asleep), and a 9.18 eigth mile time.

Any guesses at to what i should get with the stuff i changed, i will confirm next friday night (weather permitting)

turbos arent done yet so the 5k launch was done with HCI, exhaust, and gears. Only one wheel was really putting power to the ground, other one was a little bit but it actually bogged on the launch down to about 3500rpm.

thats cool, i was thinking try at 2500 and step it up like 500 at a time until i bogs and then go back down 500. what would be a reasonable 60' to see with these things

I ran that exact same size for a while. I ran mine at 18lbs of air, I did a 5-8 second burnout in 2nd gear. I launched at 3500 and pulled 1.7-1.8 60's. If they are used, then they should hook right up. I put my nittos on my car on a wed, and cut 1.66 60's on them the very next saturday, so they don't need to be worn down to hook. You should "heat treat" new nittos when you get them, meaning do a burnout a day or so before running at the track. When I had the stock heads and cam I was able to dump the clutch at 4500 and the car would hook. Now, I have to slip the clutch pretty well to get them to hook well... but they do hook. They do normally require a bit of a learning curve, so don't be disappointed in them if you spin your first time out. You'll need to learn to clip the clutch a little on the launch as to not shock the tires. Hope that helps.

hey killer, i am not a shabby driver but not the best either so i will have to "learn' them but i am wondering what you call it "clip' the clutch, as i have not heard that used before. Is that like not quite dumping it, and letting it grab and then releasing?????

all info is appreciated.

so if i ran a 9.18 last time, and had a 2.2 60 and can get that down to a 1.8, does that mean i should be able to at lest expect like a 8.78 or so, and if so what would that equate to roughly quarter, all things being equal<----LOL

needs updating but almost everythign is there minus the underdrives, and some small stuff

I meant slip, not clip... sorry. I never proof read my post even though I should. Put up your sig and I'll take a stab at what you should shift at. If you went 9.18 with a 2.2, then with some practice on the DR's I'd expect you into the 8's, which is a good place to be! EVER, and I mean EVER pass I ever made that broke into the 8's, whether is be a 8.999 or whatever, resulted in a 13 second 1/4 mile pass. If I ran 9.000 which I did a few times, I ran a 14.0X. But as soon as I hit anything in the 8's it was a 13 second pass. Good luck!

Hell no, I have $75 tied up in 2 of the same wheels... I run my ET streets on them. The nittos are in good shape... you stole them!
