put a new set of 25's in my car the other week and an MSD TFI coil since the one in the car was getting all rusted and figured id need the extra power down the road.

now i have a miss between till around 3000 rpm. gaps are around .054 timing is 20* (yes i know i need to go lower but it was like that when i got the car just havent had a chance to work on it much.) running an MSD coil MSD cap and rotor MSD 8.5 wires autolite 25's

sunday i got a free day so im gunna throw a set of NGK's in the car since ive had better luck with NGK's in the past. we run them in my buddys race car ran them in my lightning ran them in my eclipse ran them in all my hondas and never had an issue. got a set of known good wires off my buddies race car to throw on just to see if i have a bad wire.

can anyone think of anything else i should check? i plan to clean the MAF also to see if its just a dirty maf.

did plugs and coil together... only thing thats been changed

Assuming the answer was yes, the car started missing only after you replaced both of these items, I would swap the old coil back in. If it still misses thereafter, that leaves plugs.

i would have done this by now if i had a stock coil still. but a guys i know has a stock coil to try out and im pulling the old wires off another friends race car which i know are good since ive put about 50 sets of plugs in it last season.

anything else you guys can think of that could cause a random miss like this?

If the miss came from either the coil or the plugs, why would you introduce more variables by swapping plug wires?

that will be the last part i throw on if it doesnt go away. id rather not put those wires on, they will be to big seeing as its a cleveland based block with canted valve heads they are on the "long" side to get around everything with out hanging up on stuff

the issue turned out to be the "cam" i had in the car... the car i was told was in the car when i got it turned out to be -14* of timing.

but everything is squared away now. mostly stock but at least i know its running ok now.
