Norman, Ok
well, i just picked these up from foxfan (thanks again man!), and i was sitting around and decided to do kind of a side by side comparison with a set of stock e7's i had laying around. i haven't put them on yet, so no performance comparison yet. also, they're assembled, so i have no pics of the bowls. without further adu, here are the pics.

stock e7 chambers:

thumper chambers with manley 1.94/1.60 valves:

here's a close up to see the valve size difference. stock valves:

thumpers with 1.94/1.60's:

here's a closer look, side by side:

stock exhaust ports:

a close up of the exhaust ports side by side. and NO thats NOT build up on the stock port, that's the actual casting/port shape :nonono::

well thats all the pics i took. hope this gives a little insight to people thinking about getting some thumpers. i can't wait to get them on! :D thanks for looking!

thanks! what do you mean by index? make a note of which way the electrode is facing?

oh btw, 5L5, do you still need those tranny parts? i got off work and completely forgot about it.

Yes, thread a plug in so that the open face of the electrode points towards the intake valve. That way the spark is not shielded by the ground strap. If you look at the pic of the stock heads with the spark plug in, you can see the open face is pointed at the exhaust valve. You want it to point at the intake. You may need to buy more than 8 plugs to do this..but if you are running coppers they are cheap. It's easy as hell to do now with the heads off. Just mark what plug goes to what cylinder #

Yes, i still need those tranny parts if you have them. I'll PM you.

cool, thanks for the heads up man. how do i go about getting them to face the valve? pretty much do i just keep threading them in one by one until i get one that fits that particular chamber correctly?

Yup, that's why i said you may need more than 8...but you could always return the extras :)

It's not a huge gain...but it's easy as hell to do at this point and does help a tiny bit.

those really are not bad heads for the money.

dose anyone have a comparsion to what they flow vs a pair of untouched GT40 heads?

GT40s flow ~190/130 @ .500 vs 219/154 for the thumpers. Supposedly, GT40s will flow over 160cfm on the exhaust after a full port job...THAT is one thing I've read recently that I'm having a hard time believing.

put em side by side and compare, my ported p heads (self ported) are bigger than the exhaust side on my old thumpers....
gt40's start out at 195cfm on the intake, while a e7 starts at 156cfm, so why start off with a lesser head? its not like they are really expensive either...
