Hey guys...well this has to be the worst month thus far...yesterday I got in a car accident with my new (92) Notch...It wasn't my fault but I hurt my car...It could have been a lot worst than it is but I am worried about the outcome this accident will project...I hit a Honda :nonono: on the dirver's side with my driver's side...Nobody was hurt thank God...Thanks for my quick thinking I swerved out of the way when the idiot behind the wheel of the other car decided to make a turn and not yield to me...The damages are as follows.

-Broken front bumber
-Broken impact bumper
-Driver side fender garbage
-hood garbage
-lights on the driver side...garbage
-ONE 17x8 Chrome PONY R rim...garbage...luckily I called the company that use to make them and am getting a warrenty replacement that costs me $300.00
-cowl vent...garbage
-all the other miscelenous items that go into the fender need to be replaced as well...

To make a long story short...I fear that my notch could be junked! :( The other driver had State Farm insurance and she was at fault and was the one that got the ticket...State Farm already contacted me and I am suppose to go for an estimate this Fri...Well I went to get my own estimate to the FORD dealer and with all the OEM parts and labor it came out to about $4,600.00...That's A LOT of $$$...The car prior to the accident was absolutely perfect...had a freshley rebuilt 306 motor with ALL COBRA parts on it that were ported and polished...i.e ...heads, intake...I have all the receipts...well most of them...I don't want to get some crappy reproduction parts but am worried that the other insuracne will not pay me the money that they should...OEM parts alone came out to be about $3,200...without labor...5.0 Resto quoated me about $2800 for the OEM parts so a little cheaper...

I don't know what to do...I have invested a LOT of money into this car already and would hate it to be junked...even if I do buy it back I am loosing a lot...is there anyway I could come out on top without sacrificing the quality of parts...I want ALL OEM parts just like how they were on the car prior to the accident...Do I have that right...? or will the insurance company give me some cheap a$$ repro parts to cover their own a$$...? any advice would be appreciated...this has been a couple of very fcuked up days for me...sorry just had to vent.

ok i'm a pro when it comes to this stuff i have been in 2 accidents that i wasnt at fault and my car took all the damage.....anyway stick to your guns take it someone that u trust to work on your car, just cause a ford dealer sells ford dosent mean they do good work at fixing cars, any way here in va they are required to search for fenders ect in junkyards...then they can order new stuff if they cant find it in the junkyards...anyway in va if ur repair estimate is more than 70% of the car's value (kbb.com) then it is considered totaled....but u have recipts for the work and stuff so u should be ok.....also dont forget anything else they may have been damaged, and hold your title until ur happy.

I think you should be able to not have the car written off as a total loss. I'm not exactly sure how it all works, but I know that my aunt and uncle have actually had that happen to them twice with one of their cars. The car (a 1992 Olds Cutlass) was badly damaged in two separate accidents (both times it was hit while parked) and the damage was more that the blue book value, but because of the condition the car was in and the extremely low mileage, it was repaired. This probably doesn't help you much, but at least it can be done :nice: Best of luck to you and your notch. :flag:

Just see if you can find good used Ford parts to fix it. You should be able to get used hood, bumper, cover, fender and such for less than $1,000 at the most, more than likely around $500-600. Even less if you get the parts yourself. I would much rather have Ford used parts on my car than any of the reproduction parts currently available. I have a used hood, fenders, hatch and door to replace mine whenever I get it painted. Look on www.car-part.com and you can probably find some local places with the parts you need. Used parts will get the estimate down to a point that you should be able to get the insurance company to fix it for less than if they total it out, especially if you factor in your upgrades. If they are saving money, they should be happy.

Good luck!
