Got into a wreck.....

Glad your ok. The air bags were the hardest part. But use it as motivation to make it better like I did. If I were you I'd get a vert. Was your antilock working? I am getting mine fixed cuz it no work.

I took the money, got the front nose repainted and better parts, blended the paint to the body and went Big engine as you know. The frame and drivetrain were not damaged at all (12 mile hr crash). It was cosmetic but cuz the bags blew they totalled it. No salvage title issued if I fix it which I have.

Sorry to hear....I wrecked my first stang a pristine 95 black vert. and I miss it. But that was before my hot rodding days...My current car is worth nothing to insurance so i cringe when I see something like that happening to someone else...cuz it could be me. My back up is to buy back the car and get a factory five cobra and put the powertrain in there.:D  :( I still hope it never comes to that....

The insurance company would notice a missin tranny. You can usualy get away with pulling your stereo, wheels maybe exhaust. Airbags being deployed doesnt autmatically total out our cars yet. Frame damage and time on the frame rack is what totals a car out usualy or really bad suspension and steerin damage would do it.

With all due respect, it depends on the insurance company. Allstate tried to total my 94 after a light front-end impact which blew the bags. They valued the 'Stang at barely over $1K, and they estimated repairs at just under $3K. The airbags cost more than their value of the 'Stang. So, Allstate told me the 'Stang was totalled. Granted, it's a V6, but it's worth a lot more than $1k.

I fought Allstate for a month, and had to contact an independent appraiser to save my 'Stang. These guys (http://www.appraisalgroupofamerica.com/) charged me $250 and negotiated the value of my 'Stang to over $4000, which is more reasonable. Finally, Allstate agreed to fix my car.

Of course, by this time I had already fixed the 'Stang for $2k in parts, so I made a profit on this one. :nice: EBay is your friend for parts.
