So I just got out of MD and, damn, I'm a little disappointed. I lot of people told me that with the 262's and PI swap that I'd make around 270 rwhp. Well here are my numbers:
244 rwhp/264 rwtq. Don't get me wrong, the car pulls WAY harder and the lope sounds awesome, but I guess I had my hopes up too much. :(

Was it a dynojet or mustang dyno cause there's a diff between the two as far as rwhp/tq numbers go. Seems more like a mustang dyno as the readings are pretty low.

I have a dyno sheet, but I'm in Cincinnati and can't scan it till I get home. Also, it was a dynojet. Another thing that was weird....they told me that according to their math, they think I have 2.73 or 3.08 gears. They said they don't think I have 3.27's. I thought all 96 GT's came with 3.27's.

Well what do you think Tom? Is there a solution to this? Do you think MPH could tune it THAT much better?

Better than 240? I'd be willing to put money on it. Those are near stock numbers (for a 99+, but you did the PI swap so....) Also from prior research, if you had a higher gear than stock, the numbers would be higher... unless I misread something. Because I was lead to believe that going lower than stock gears slightly lowers the dyno numbers (like an extremely small ammount)

how many miles on the shortblock? is it possible you're losing compression in 1 or more cylinders? that will severely kill your power. Check for exhaust leaks, those will affect power as well. I would definitely put you at the 260 range with a full PI swap and comp cams installed, something else is amiss here. What does your A/F ratio look like? Keep us posted

About the gears, I'm not sure about 2.73s being offered. I know that all limited slip differentials had 3.27s, but maybe 2.73s were offered in non t-lok differentials. 3.08s were standard for the auto transmissions I believe, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Good numbers Skidzz! :nice:
You should be happy with your numbers. The MPH tune will probably
get you a little bit more by leaning it out but,I don't think it's worth it.
Oh don't get me wrong, it pulls a lot harder and I love it, but for the trouble I've been through and the extra money I've spent because of one of the heads being warped, I would like to have at least made 260 rwhp.

Well, I don't know about the gears, but I'm changing them at some point anyway. The shortblock has 70k miles on it. I don't know about the compression but it seems to run fine, and the guys at MD didn't mention anything about compression being low, but he DID say that he thinks one of my cat convertors is screwed up, and I am hearing a sound coming from the car that sounds like "shh-shh-shh" that gets faster the higher I rev. I don't know if it has to do with the cat or if it's just part of the sound the cams gave me. All I know is that if I should be making more power than this, MD should have known, and should have known there is a problem. My car has been there for 3 weeks, maybe they just didn't want to deal with it anymore, so they just told me that the numbers were normal. Maybe I'll have someone run a compression test, but if it is low, what will need to be done to fix it and how much would it cost?

#s seem about right to me. You need longtubes.
Maybe you're right. I mean, the SOTP difference is huge. It feels like a whole different car. Maybe I shouldn't be too discouraged over the dyno numbers. Dyno's are just a tuning tool. I'll still look into a compression test though. Atleast I'll be walking on stock 99-04's and LT1's :nice: Oh, and no, I NEED gears, lol.

#'s seem low to me....guys who just do the PI swap are usually in that area w/5sp...you should be a good 20rwhp higher with cams. But i don't see a TB and Plenum in your sig and most have that already...that could be hurting you now with the new airflow.

Well, the comp cams are definately there, because there is a lope. But yes, this is what I was thinking. It should be higher. Could my lack of tb and plenum really hurt THAT bad though?

Oh and BTW as for the A/F question posted earlier: A/F ratio is about 13/1

It would have been nice to see around 250 or so but as others have said, dyno's vary. In 96' 2.73's 3.08's and 3.27's were available as options. 3.27's weren't standard till the later years.
