Only took an hour. After looking at the how-to on here and a couple of other threads, I dont understand why everyone was taking the console off. All you needed for the front two bolts on the boot cover was an 8mm wrench.

Anyways, I love the shifter. The throws are about 1/3 as long as they were when stock and third is a breeze.

Sorry, no install pics, but I can take the boot off and get a pic of the shifter. Good?

I left my console in too. Great excuse to go to sears and getting some ratcheting wrenches.

what'd ya do on that, just smash the boot in between the post and handle on the shifter or did you have to cut it a little bit. i wanted to do that with mine but i didn't want to cut my boot up

Why the hell would you put the handle outside the boot? That looks trashy. Mine fit under the boot just fine.

I don't know, its been about 2 years since my 89 had a t5 with its steeda tri-ax which I loved. I went with a MGW just for something different. It feels great. I should have the 89 driveable shortly, and will then be able to feel the difference.

Cut the boot..it already had a tear in the side.

New leather one is on the way from redline and a knob from MGW.

Feels great. I tried it straight back and went through the gears while just sitting there. I then moved it over, pointing towards me, and in my opinion, it just felt a bit better.
