i'm sure i've posted this problem on here a few times but i finally pinpointed the symptoms of how my cars acting. this problem has been happening since she was stock. it used to just happen every now and then, the check engine light would come on, then the problems would magically disappear and the light would turn off after a day or 2. but now the check engine wont turn off and the problems keep persisting. when i very lightly tap the gas, the engine sounds like its cutting out and it just putts along till i give it a little more gas. while im cruising and i very lightly let up off the gas, it once again sounds like fuel is being cut off and starts jerking like crazy cruising right around 2000rpm. when i come to a stop, the rpm's fluctuate between 300 and 650 (whatever the normal idling rpm is) exactly 4 times before smoothing out. almost as if the computer is trying to find the correct idle. i had the codes ran and i got P1151. of course advanced auto said it was my 02 sensors but i know thats not it. i heard it might be the MAF, but i dont wanna fork out 200 bux for a new one if thats not the problem. long story short...im beyond fed up with this problem and i now dread driving my car. i gotta get this fixed asap or i'm getting a camaro. i mean... :rlaugh:

P1151 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 2.

sure that's the only code?

Thats the only code that i've consistently had pulled. The code 1780 was pulled too but only once. when i recently had the codes pulled again, that one didnt show up. it was 1151 and i THINK 1152. either way im starting to think the MAF is bad. i read that if you unplug the MAF and the car dies, its working...so i unplugged it and not a thing happened. i decided to drive around with it unplugged and the only difference was that there was a slight hesitation when i first hit the gas.

Swap your 2 front o2 sensors. If the code changes sides it is your o2 sensor. Unplugging the MAF the eec will try to run in limp mode, but if the o2 is bad it may already be in limp mode. Before throwing money at it, it might be worth the $80 to have the diagnostics run on it at the dealer ship.

I already took her to the shop to have a diagnostics test. The CEL was on when I took it in and it was running horribly. When the mechanic went out to start the car up, the CEL didn't come on and the car was running fine. He ran a test anyways and no codes came up. Cost me 80 bux to have the codes ran. The guys said it was bc of the O/R H pipe. Which is completely not true considering its been doing this since the car was in bone stock showroom condition with 52,000 miles on it. Everytime I've tried taking my car in to get fixed when the CEL turned on, it would turn off either on the drive up to the shop or it would turn off while they're testing it. After I pick her up, the light comes back on. It's almost as if she doesn't wanna be fixed  I just don't wanna buy new 02 sensors and that not be the problem.

Don't want to buy new ones? Here are some options:

1. Find a friend with a similar year and swap him for a day to test your hypothesis.
2. Hit up a salvage yard and get them there.
3. Try eBay or a parts trader on here.
4. Not nice, but test drive a used (and similar year) GT from a dealer for a couple of hours and swap them out. Then tell them THEIR ses light came on. :D

Hope you figure it out!

ok so here are the codes that i just got pulled today:
P1150
HO2S Bank 2 sensor 1
Insufficient Switching
Fuel Trim at Limit

P1151
HO2S Bank 2 sensor 1
Insufficient Switching
Lean Mean

P1260
Theft Detected
Immobilizer Active

What does it all mean?

One thing nobody has mentioned is the TPS.It uses a carbon film painted on that acts as a rheostat. If this film gets a worn spot in it it will cause the idle to go crazy and the engine to stumble when the throttle is opened to the bad spot.

This may be a stupid response but have you ever changed out your fuel filter? I had a t-bird that ran very lean and it was cause of my fuel filter. Just trying to help. It's only an $11 item.
