Granetelli Forced Induction Oilling system

Well the other day i was looking on Granatelli's website looking to get a new mass air meter, and i ran across this. Its a self contained oiling system for the centrifigal superchargers and turbos. I thought it was pretty cool, keeps the engine oil clean, and is its own oil cooler. It is kinda expensive, but i was wondering if anyone has ever used one.

..i wasnt aware that vortechs and other engine oil lubricated blowers were making the oil dirty.... :shrug:

Do u think a oil lubricated blower effects increases the oil temp of a motor? What point would the oil cooler serve, how effiecient could it possibly be?
 
Well the heat of the turbo or supercharger is now being transfered to the oil, making it even hotter than it was before. Well i usually when you get a turbo or supercharger they recommend changing the oil more often since it now has more than its normal purpose. It nots really one of those things that you need, its just a security blanket that makes us sleep easier at night. Many of cars have gone a long time without anything like this, so its nothing important, but i think i would invest in one
 
if you need to invest in a seperate oiling system to keep your engine oil clean or "safe", then u need to be investing in a new blower. Yes, turbos and blowers heat up and emit heat into the oil, but that oil is already hot from the other 8 cylinders being slammed up and down at 6000 rpms.. your intake temp may rise, but not your oil temp.
 
I beg to differ :)

Anytime you have a turbo pushing 1500+ EGT thru it - it WILL heat up the oil. I have watched on nice mechanical gauges the oil pressure start dropping after high boost turbo runs.
Vehciles without an oil cooler will note considerably higher oil temps. Lots of turbocharged vehicles will see oil totally temp fragged. One of the reasons why turbo and forced induction recommend running synthetic is it's ability to withstand coking in the oil feed and return lines.
It's not just the decrease in pressure due to severe heat, but the coking will diminish the flow to the turbo/SC- that will destroy the bearings.

An externally contained oiling system is a good idea. But on a stang, a good high volume oil pump with an inline oil filter on the supply side, and a good high flowing oil return should do ya fine.
