hi, I'm new to the mustang seen, just bought a 93 gt and went to the track last saturday, was kind of disapointed. was told the car run's 12's easy, but only managed a 13.8@102.
well I saw a teal green coupe with f/s 6?? on it, can't remember the #'s on it going 11.5's.
saw the car in the pit's and it seemed to have less stuff than me, but blowing my doors off. what's up with that ?
I have an edelbrock intake, canfield stage 3 heads a F cam and all the bolt on's.
that car looked to have stock or some kind of iron heads and only a cobra intake and drag radials. I didn't see nos or anything either.
I guess I will try again this weekend, if anyone is up there stop by and give a rookie some advice. my car is black with grey on the bottom.
thanks paul

You prob do have a 12 second car but there are ALOT of factors. What really matters is track condition and the experience of the driver. Just b/c a car is said to run a certin time dosent mean anyone can take it to the track and run that time. Where you using Drag Radials?? What was your 60' Time? Its hard to tell you where you falterd w/ out more info on how your car ran.

As far as the other car it could have had a killer suspension, could have had a monster big block under the the hood, may have just hooked up really well ( doubtfull at NED ) or maybe he was just a really good driver, its hard to say. But we need more info on your run to be able to tell you why you ran a 13.8 when you were expecting more.

I think the F/S designation kinda gives it away.

Factory Stock cars run well into the low 11's now on a well built spec engine. you can look up the rules on FFW's website and I believe NHRA has them by EFI class.

I run my car on et drags, 26x10x15 and 60' a best of 1.78. launch at 4500 and no wheel spin. shifting at 6500.
The green coupe had a 302, I found factory stock on the nmra website and says stock cam no porting, how can that car go that fast with a stock cam and no porting or aluminum heads ?

I might head up on saturday or sunday... Possibly calling out sick of work on sunday to go and make my last runs of the season. I'm running about 14.0 without gears on my 94 Mustang GT. (Black 98GT Rims).

That car belongs to Dennis Merrow. Eric Laferriere of Lefaferriere racing was making runs in the car that day.

I will tell you they are not the easiest people to get in touch with. Matt might come along if he sees this post. As for what is done to the car it is not my place to say sry. Since he does race heads up etc. Eric was there hanging in the trailer you shoulda talk to him then. I was to bysea with my car and watching Pete champani and Manny whoop some arss with their cars.

To learn more about factory stock you can go to sites like http://www.stangcrazy.com/ and try to learn as much as you can. If you are around next season look me up I have a 03 Gt grey with black lemans stripe on it. Might of saw me there.

It is true , stock cam , no porting , the car has gt-40 heads on it ,as a matter
of fact the motor is for sale for short $$$$$. it runs 114.00 @ 3150in the summer............I shift the car @5800 and the 60ft time was consistant 1.55 to 1.58 on dragradials ......you have to drive it like you stole it ......There is no better way to make your car faster than to go to the track and practice ....ERIC

Will see what them 4v guys can pull when they are stuck with 4.10s for gear.....
I made 4 passes with 15psi in the nittos all high 12s. Best were .85 and .89 Didn’t have time to try 13psi Think for sure I could of got a .7 or even a .6 out of it. For next year I have to find about 200/250 more rpms out of the car...It was falling on its face after 5600rpms. I want to run 28inch tires and a 4.30 gear next season 5600 would be ok for 110mph but I figure Ill need 5800to5850rpms. Told my father you said hi. He is hitting the track sunday

PS: all figures show the car was making 252-256 WHP not bad for the mods it has.

I think we are all set for what ever is coming at us for rules .we will always find a way. With only a 3000 pd wt. are you going to run any events next year?

Yeah Denny's car is very fast for whats done to it, and NOT the car to compare too for your daily driver...

I have been beat by him at my past 2 events, Tasca Day, and Fords @ Etown both in my dads 91 LX. Actual Eric beat me at etown, but it was Dennys car!

I know for FS they are not allowing anymore than 4.10s in the modular cars, but I still think they are going to run the same numbers.

Ive been keeping my eye on the rules. Would love to hit a few races next year, If $ wise all pans out right. Next on my list is to spool it. Im still checking on what tire im going to run 50s or 60s not sure on gear yet. I want to run 60s on it.[what were you running hitting the 1.5s?] I have a few things I can play around with to get more weight off the front end. Think I can pull 50Lbs off the front end.
Run skinnys [3012Lbs was with stock front tires]
pull heater box.
Still have the A/C compressor on the car for no resin.
Think that should do it.
Still using the stock battery forgot about that one.

One problem is I never looked into running shortys on the car. Don’t think anyone makes 1 3/4 shortys for the car.
Right now my setup has Mac Lts and x-pipe dumped. Which does not fit in the rules so whole exhaust would have to be changed plus the suspension.

Know anyone who would trade shortys for my Lts and x-pipe?
Could use some help on finding some 4banger front springs to

So far 4V and 3V are stuck with 4.10s
2V can run 4.88s, Not that I think we would get any use out of that gear... Wishfully im wronge thow. Maybe I got some fttt up cams from the factory

Hopfully the weight breaks are wronge, adding weight to all cars and taking weight off the 4V makes no freaking sence even if they are stuck with 4.10s.
yeesh look at my car,, even with the 3.27s and the Mph I was pulling.

Yeah I meant DOHC, not all modulars, sorry, LOL!

I agree, and can see them all running 4.10s and a 275/50/15s and once they get the shorter tire to hook, they will be running the times again. I am not too worried as I cant see myself competeing in FS in the NMRA, because by the time Im ready to get into the NMRA Ill probably be looking into Real Street. If Im going to lose first round, Id rather lose RS first round instead of FS! For now I run an FS style class at a few events, and Im usually gone first or second round with my car, and just cant see doing all thats needed to run with the top guys (even the low 12 high 11s cars) and spending all that money to do it, and only go low 12s high 11s.

I would love to see a E7, 2V only class, but that wont happen (and I dont expect it too). I'll just stick with my local racing, keep making the car faster and get it where I want it. I use the class now to make the car fast and surprise people, not to go out there and try to be number one (although it would be nice)!

I just want to be able to race Heads up. For 2v rules Id like to see them able to use tubular K member and arms. Keep the weight were it was in mid 04. Bottom line they’ll just say to the 2v guys to buy a 4v if you want to be competitive same with the E7 guys.

well didn't make it to the track, called the previous owner and asked what i was doing wrong with the 12 sec car he sold me. he didn't have an answer for me.
so i took it to the dyno, made a couple pulls it made 265 rwhp. when i told the guy at the dyno what was done to the car he kinda said the car should be making atleast 350 rwhp.
well i guess i got alot to learn.
