Whenever I'm doing the 2-3 shift moderately fast at around 2200-2600rpms, I get this grinding feeling. It's as if there's something blocking the shifter. And yes, I always have the clutch pedal mashed to the floor everytime I shift. The weird part is, I get CLEAN shifts when I speed-shift it at 5500 rpms. Does this have to do with the way the syncros are set up? I hope the grind isn't damaging the transmission..?

My problem was grasping the shifter and trying to slam it into 3rd. It was causing me to hit the middle of the gate between 1st and 3rd. Try using the palm of your hand and just push it into 3rd...let the shifter do what it was intended to do and that's find 3rd for you.

I'm having problems with 3rd gear with my '04 GT as well. After I installed my Pro 5.0 shifter I always felt (not heard) a slight crunch going into 3rd, and as of 2 days ago I cannot get into 3rd gear at all if I shift above 4500 RPM (unless I double-clutch). I was told its the syncros...and its a common problem with the Tremec 3650

For anyone who has a T3650, Ford has a newly released kit to fix 3rd gear grind and 2nd gear pop-out problems. The kit comes from Tremec; it includes a new mainshaft, 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 1st/2nd synchro, 3rd/4th synchro, blocker rings, snap rings, seal, etc.

I'm taking my car in to the service dept as soon as I put my stock factory shifter back on...I dont want them trying to wiggle out of fixing it under warrantee by blaming it on the aftermarket shifter!!

im also having problems with mine...every once in awhile i will shift quick and hear like a grind sound but it goes in gear...and other times i shift quick and it's just fine...im just thinking that it must be me tho
