Grinding 2nd Gear

my car grinds second gear ALL the time! even driving slow if i shift too fast it will grind. i have an MGW shifter and i've adjusted it to hell and back. i cannot make it stop grinding. anyone know what i should do....i'm up for any suggestions at this point.

hate to say it but sounds like the tranny is on the way out....dont get me wrong,it will prolly last for quite awhile,mine did when it did that.if you have an adjustible cable you could try that but it sounds like the syncros are screwed.good luck

Might as well have the tranny freshened up if you are going to take it all apart to replace one synchro.

My 89 does that

I hate it...I just rev up 1st and skip 3rd most of the time. It doesn't grind as bad when its cold but once the car is warmed up it gets bad. My car has been doing this for at least four or five months. I am going to try and find a used t5 to rebuild and just swap it out. Really sucks not having 2nd gear. Makes the car no fun to drive.
