Nik you ever tried just adding friction modifier?

The Trick Shift is basically Type F transfluid. Type F has friction modifier added to the blend, so I don't doubt it improved shifting. That's why guys who run it in their worn auto's are seeing an improvement as the make the clutches "grab". I don't know what the long term effects are like, but I can't imagine its lubricating and heat control properties are as good as a standard or synthetic ATF fluid though? And Hot shift is a basically a synthetic blend with added friction modifier....so yes, you have run synthetic trans fluid in your T5 and noticed a difference.

I say if it works, use it.

Why wouldn't it be...? Plus, keep in mind that MTs are much cooler running than ATs, which is really what the fluid was designed for.

Haha, but was it because it's a synthetic blend that caused the difference, or the other additives such as friction modifier that did it? Like I said, I have run synthetic, Mobil 1 actually, and did not see a discernible difference.

ive used it back when i worked on the 03/04 cobra's a lot since a lot of people didnt like how notchy the T56 was. it worked wonders.

I just had my T5 rebuilt by Hanlon Motorsports. It shifts like smooooothe. I run standard ATF per his advice. The rational is that most newer kits have teflon or carbon fiber blocker rings. The synthetic is too slippery for them to grab the next gear and spin it up to speed to mesh well when shifting fast. So provided your rebuild was correctly done (nothing missed) and you have a new style kit, I'd be inclined to try the standard ATF. Mine works awesome.
