GT-40 or Trick Flow Street heat? Which is better?

Which intake manifold would be better for a supercharged 306? The GT-40 or the Trick Flow Street heat intake with 75mm TB opening? I already have a GT-40 but i have a friend who wants to trade me straight up for my GT-40 for his Trick Flow Street heat and its only been installed once and never ran, i know for a fact too. I def don't have 454.00 or whatever those Trick Flows cost in my GT-40 intake so if its flows just as good or better why not?
 
From what i have read on here, the only thing people like about the gt40 is the looks. Appaerently they are limited to how much they can flow and dont have any more potential. trick flow seems to be the ticket
 
TFS flows better. i'd get that. you want to try and not restrict all that incoming air the blower is feeding the engine. not that the gt40 is restrictive, just that it doesnt flow as good as the TFS
 
well if i had the opportunity to trade my gt-40 intake for a TFS straight up...i certainly wouldn't be looking into spending 450 on a Holley intake?!?!?!?! Yes the TFS intake flows better out of the box and the swap would probably net you a couple ponies...and for free, why not!
 
where can i buy that?

Ebay or any mustang forum, pretty rare intakes and the holley is better anyways. Like said before holley systamax is good, TFS track heat, RPMII all good FI intakes. I just ran what I had and it worked out well. But anyways, I would just keep the gt40 the TF isnt going to flow much better and can be bought through summit anytime try ordering a new gt40 intake thats something to hang onto.

Here's the highlights on a built 347...
After some playing with the adjustable fuel pressure regulator to bring the air fuel mixture in line, the TFS R intake posted peak numbers of 475 hp at 6400 rpm and 422 lbs.-ft. of torque at 5100 rpm. The intake swap had netted a 25 hp gain over the GT-40 baseline, but the added top-end power came with a price. The TFS R intake was down on torque compared to the GT-40 to the tune of 25 lbs.-ft.
In a nutshell, the larger intake traded top-end horsepower for low and mid-range torque.
As with the TFS R, the Holley lost out to the torque-champ GT-40 down low, but bettered the tubular intake as the revs increased. The added torque production of the Holley intake (over the TFS R) is evident in the fact that the Holley bettered the GT-40 baseline at 5250 rpm, some 250 rpm sooner than the TFS R. Note the two humps (not quite a dual torque peak) in the torque curve of the 347 equipped with the Holley intake. This is a function of the efficiency of the long runners in the intake and the motor coming up on the cam.
As with the two other "Super" intakes, the Victor 5.0 lost big torque down low to the GT-40, but picked up big time once the revs reached 5500 rpm. With our three intakes out of the way, you'd think we would be satisfied. Wrong. After running these three (four including the GT-40), we grabbed another trio and subjected the 347 test motor to even more abuse. Check out the results in part two of our "Super" intake shoot out.

STRTRCR50 -- Dude thanks alot more that information. **** me that is a big dif. I didn't know it was that significant loss in lower end hp and torque. Yes my car is a complete street car ha. The blower should make up for all the Top end lost! Damn... I'm def keeping my GT-40 now. Thanks alot for finding that information. i appreciate it!

Oh by the way, it looks like you have a very similar setup as me!
88 Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible. MM Full length subframes, upper and lower battle boxes, BBK shorties, pypes catted x and violator catback, gt40 tubular intake, vortech s trim.
 
One ting you should make sure you look at is that the TFS was the R series intake. The street heat is gonna be better suited to your application than that intake. If it was me though I would still keep the GT40 and just havethe lower ported as that will probably make it on par with the street heat in the upper rpm's. Look at tmoss's website for more intake info and ported gt40 info.

On a NA motor like that 347, low end would be a consideration but for a supercharger that are torque adders, low end power will not be an issue with it. Even so a supercharger will give gobs of low end and continue the power band. I think the TFS is better suited for a forced induction setup.
