Well tomorrow I will be done with my car, and have it back on the road as my daily driver. I just put a complete 1995 cobra motor and transmission. I also swapped the eintire wiring harness, and ecu. What I am wondering is what kind of real world gains will I have over a stock GT. and will modifications on this moter net the same results as on a GT.

List of mods:
1995 GTS
complete cobra motor (intake manifold to oilpan)
cobra ecu
65mm throttlebody
K&N Fipk
Bassani o/r x-pipe
bassani catback
walbro 255lph pump
Fluidyne radiator
QA-1 Tubular front suspension (custom reinforced for strength)
all egr and emmisions eliminated
steeda tri-ax shifter
Cobra R front brakes (brembo 4 piston)
Cobra rear brakes
373 gears
Detroit Locker diff
alloy driveshaft

and some other stuff I cant remember.

It was amazing what all parts I found in my workshop.

I am just wondering if these mods will net a reasonably quick car

it will run the same as an equally modded cobra...would have saved some time and trouble to just swap the computer and use the stock harness...

Kind of a dumb question don't you think? You should run even with most 94-95 Cobras now. Mid-High 13's with your mods assuming you can hook.

the question I am asking is if the cobra motor has gt40 style intake and heads, and I add an intake that supposedly adds 12hp to a gt wouldnt the gains be larger on a car that has less bottlenecks down the line. On a GT I know that one of the limiting factors is the stock intake manifold, and that maky limit the gains that can be achieved by an intake. And on the GT motor the heads dont flow as well, so new headers will still be drastically limited by the stock head design. Now if the GT40style heads flow better wouldnt headers net a higher % hp gain????

And as for using the gt harness, when I had my other motor in the car it was running a complete standalone computer (FAST) and a custom wiring harness.

Probably not. An intake is worth like 4 or 5hp anyway, 65mm ehh not much. The X and catback probably got you the most. I mean 95 cobra motors arent exactly power monsters over the GTs. But you probably got about 240-250rwhp there.

Well at least the Cobra motor seems to handle boost better than the stock.

in all fairness that motor was horribly underrated from the factory at least had to be 270. on svtperformance.com some guy yanked 232 rwhp out of a stock 94.....on a "240" factory rating. your going to be faster then you think, not by much, but faster.

Yeah, I was just wondering if the gains would be in line with a gt or not. I forgot to mention I have a full msd ignition with 6al box. The car is running suuuuuuuuper rich, I will be tuning it next week. I know the 255lph pump is a lil big, but it was the smallest I had laying around.

The 255 pump should not be causing you a prob.

Do you have an AFPR and if so, do you have the pressure elevated to a high level?

no, but I did have larger fuel lines installed throughout, and larger return lines. I think that it is getting a little better now too. I will hook the wideband up to it tomorrow, and see how it is.
