The '88 Mustang LX 5-speed I just bought is rusted beyond repair, but it runs great. There is a '93 Mustang GT convertable that had a 5-speed in it, down the street with a flawless body, but no motor or transmission, also the windshield is cracked, interior is trashed, and the top is torn. If I buy this car and swap the motor and transmission into it, Could I also switch out the other parts?
Are there any other problems I might run into if I try this?

Im fairly sure that a vert windshield is different from a hatch/notch windshield but I wouldnt swear to it. As far as interior goes, the dash, console, front seats etc will interchange but of course GT and LX seats are different unless the LX is a "sport" that has the GT interior. Vert door panels are a little different if I remember right because the vert doesnt have the metal around the glass, and the GT vert will have power (no window crank holes) whereas the LX probably doesnt. The good news is that the drivetrain is all the same :D

edit:
just remembered why the door panels are different. Its the trim at the top because a vert doesnt have those triangle pieces where the mirrors bolt onto a hatch or notch (non t-top version)

Another note, the wiring harnesses are going to be different to some degree since the 93 was for sure mass air and the 88 was probably speed density unless it was a California car or was upgraded. So you might expect some wiring compatibility issues if you have to use some of the 88 car wiring harnesses. Of course unless the 88 is a vert too, the interior rear seat parts are different also.

As mentioned, they are very, very similar. your front seatbelts from your lx won't work on that vert. Rear belts won't either. Rear 1/4 panels are different, as is the rear seats, which was mentioned. Front seats will go in, but they recline too far, and if you try to recline them too far, they will hit the 1/4 panel trim. Carpet will go in just fine, so will the dash and kick panels, door sills. The vert panels do have that longer trim on top as mentioned, but your hatch door panels should fit just fine. You may need to replace that trim peice to make it look right. Try 50resto..

Your 88 has no air bag, the 90 does, for that reason, your speedo won't work in the 93 dash, unless you keep the dash and speedo from that car. Every mechanical part between the two cars are identical. You could even convert the 93 to speed density for now if you are on a budget.

Windshields are definetly different, won't swap out.

Thanks guys you have been most helpful. I'll have to think about it a little more. ..new windshield, new top, possibly 2 new seats, paint. starting to get expensive already. I'm thinkin its just too much work anyways.......
