GT40 351W intake question

Hey guys, quick question. My friend has a 351w in his stang with a gt40 lower and a downs box upper. He wants to get rid of the upper for a better low end, but doesn't feel like buying a whole new setup. I was curious, will the regular 5.0 GT40 uppers, fit onto a GT40 lower for a 351w? It is difficult to find the actual 351w upper manifold from an old 351w lightning or cobra, but I don't see why any regular GT40 wouldn't bolt up as long as the lower is for a 351w block. GT 40 Upper

Yes it will work. We did it on my old car , but it seemed to run out of air flow on the top end as it never was as quick as the same cars with carbs.

The GT-40 upper is exactly the same for 302/351W. As Seasnake has mentioned though, it runs out of steam on the higher end of the breathing range.

Yep, any GT-40 upper should bolt directly to the 351w Lightning/Cobra lower.

I would be interested in hearing more details on his combo too

I may be interested in buying the downs box upper when he replaces it.
I am currently running a Comp Cams Upper.
