I know someone who will sell me a set of iron GT40's (not P's) for $200. I have not seen them but am told one head has a worn valve guide and the springs are worn. No rockers come with the deal. I know new springs would be smart anyway since I would install an e cam with the heads, along with a cobra intake. My questions are with the valve guide. I don't want to spend another $400 rebuilding the heads, or else I would just go with alum in the first place. Including new springs I don't want the total investment to go over $350 (not including rockers). Things I'm wondering:
1. Do GT40's have replaceable guides or would machining be required?
2. If replaceable, where would I find one and can it be done at home?
3. Does this worn valve guide still make this a good deal, if so should all guides be replaced?
4. What other cheap repairs should be done to the heads?
