I have my GT40 upper intake off the car for my headswap, and noticed a very glaring feature in the design. The two bolt holes that run vertically down the main inlet are very restrictive and cut downthe cross section of the inlet signifigantly. Looking at it, I think I could use 2 short bolts and just attach the them at the bottom of of the upper intake to the lower. Then I could eliminate the two bolt housings restricting the inlet. How would I go about this. Cut them off and weld some new material back on that allow the inlet to retain ita maximum diameter throughout. Can this be done? How involved would this be, would a shop be able to do it for me, I suck at welding aluminum. Or am I just talking out of my a**...........

not worth it, gt40's flow great anyways... if you want extra power port your lower intake, that is the restrictive part.

It has been done already. In the manner you said. Is it worth it? Don't know. For what you could sell it for there are other intakes out there that do not have the same restrictoin. But if you like the look of the gt40(I do)and want to keep it, go ahead. It can be done and will flow more air. Tom.
