GT40 on a 331?

Will it rev to 6000? Yes

Will there be power there? Hell no.

I understand if your on a budget and you have the gt40 and wanna use it, go ahead. It is in no way shape or form gonna make good power though. At least ditch the 1" spacer. That intake has already too long of a runner, why make it longer? :D

What exactly are you building?
 
Heres another 347 example with a tfs R intake and TW heads with a custom cam designed for low end torque. Buddy rawls did the camshaft.

Its all in the combo, saying one intake is "better" just by posting one dyno graph example is just plain silly. Its ALL in the combo. If the cam dynamics don't change there isn't enough info to say one intake is "better to 5500" than another intake.

Heres jeff88coupe's dyno with a tfs R 347 and ported afr 185's with a custom grind cam. Tremendous low speed torque and pulls to 7000. http://www.mustangcentral.net/neil/customers/jeff/jeff347.jpg

That graph was pretty interesting.

Do you think things would have been closer with one of Trick Flow's more "street car" type of intakes?

Thanks for all the help!! Right now I have a chp 331 with ported and polished Edelbrock heads, a 570 lift cam and a TFS R manifold.My problem is the low end torque. I only drive it on the street so top end is not a hugh priority. I have my old GT40 and was just wondering if it would help my problem enough to swith them out.

Nothing, BONE STOCK - give it to me for a couple of days and rerun the test. :D

Calling actual dyno test results silly - is silly itself. Everybody says this intake is no good on larger engines and it's just a lot of bunk and I like debunking things. This IS one actual example of a combo that did very well with a GT40 intake - like it or not, and NO ONE said it was "better". I've proven this intake can hang with the better intakes and so have others. The proof is hard and right out here for everyone to see. Sure you can make power other ways and some of those combos have been put up for review (they are not dyno comparisons - just one dyno). Don't listen to the "internet common knowledge" that some things don't work, because someone will prove it wrong.

Might have been, but it was not tested on THAT combo, so we will never know. I do have AFM dyno tests of those intakes on a different combo though.

It should fit but the track heat upper ports are smaller. I put my street/track heat upper gasket up to my R lower and it seemed to line up but the ports were a lot larger than the gasket

Sounds like you need the proper camshaft instead of blaming the manifold. I posted 2 R intake strokers with the right cam that made TREMENDOUS low end.

Have you ever been on a dyno? How's the tune? Any track times?
