Hey guys, sorry to make such a seemingly stupid thread but I know this is a real common combo and I know a few of you on here run it so hoping you can chime in. Wondering if anyone running a tfs stage 1 cam and gt40p heads have had to change their pushrods? I made the mistake of putting my motor back together and then realizing I should have checked my pushrod length before I did. I have run the gt40p heads with scorpion rockers and a bcam in the past and it had quiet a bit of a valvetrain noise but I never paid much attention to it. This time I am running tfs cam, gt40p, and stock steel rockers.

I would like to know some info also !!!!! I'm running a tfs 1 and 1.7 rockers ,with upgraded springs on a set of ported e7's . It sounds horrible ......

I have been debating on going to stock rockers to see if that would help the valvetrain noise ????

Hey ,Mob what springs are you running ??

I'm running that exact combo with stock length pushrods. 6.25. I don't know if it's correct though. I was wondering how you can really check pushrod length with stock rockers? I know the with rollers you can see the mark but with stock rockers it impossible.

You need an adjustable pushrod to determine the pushrod length. You'll have no problem finding one online. Should be a writeup here somewhere on how to do it. Just search.

I bought the adjustable pushrod, but like i said the stock rockers pivot and don't roll so you can't get a clear measurement. Atleast this is what i think. I'm in the middle of redoing everything and will try that method but i doubt it will work. It would be nice to for sure know though before i rip up a lifter to convert it to a solid one.

Yea I was gonna buy the pushrod but I already put my whole intake back together, the engine really just needs valve covers and the upper intake and its done. Dont really want to tear it apart again. I figured since I am using stock rockers and the explorer push rods are the same as a mustang, they should be the same but I was basically wondering how much the cam could throw it off since so many people run it.

On my last combo I never knew what springs were on the heads, they could have been stock explorer springs for all I know :O!!! But I am running the tfs spring kit this time around.

i'm running the same combo gt40p with upgraded springs, 1.7 rockers, GT40p and explorer intake...runs great but doesn't have the sound/lope i expected. I wish i had went f-303. I didn't have to change pushrods..stock ones worked great.

You dont like the lope of the tfs stage 1? I am switching from a bcam to the tfs cam this time around, I hope I didnt make a mistake, the Bcam was REALLLL lopey, I actually loved that cam, I was thinking about going with the stage 2, but settled on the stage one.

the tfs-1 cam makes decent power but the lope is weak....depends on which is more important to you.

Yea, I mean the reason I went for the TFS stage one was I was looking for an upgrade in performance. The B-cam did sound amazing though, performance is more important to me though so hopefully I wont be disappointed and will notice a difference.

I have the P-heads and a Stage 1 cam,and the stock length push rods are fine.My heads were not milled when I had the porting and valve job done (and yes,I installed Trick Flow springs as well). The cam is somewhat lopey as well, and the car runs really strong....seems to love the higher rpms a lot.
