I am doing the same thing.. I ported the lower intake to match the gasket.. The heads were close to matching the gasket so I'm gonna leave them go..I don't know if it will make much of a difference.. But it seems to make sense that it would flow a little better..

There is a DIY write up on how to blend the bowls on the gt40p's using a die grinder. Google it and you should find it pretty easy that's what I did. I don't know why but I did not port the lower but I should have. The next time the lower comes off I'll port the lower. I wanna say the gaskets are felpro 1250's but I'm not for sure.

If your not planning on running boost anytime soon, a typical fel pro head gasket will suit just fine. Make sure you use new Head bolts, please dont reuse your stockers. Get a set of ARP bolts from summit for 30 or 40 bucks. If I were you id leave the heads alone, but i would def take them to a machine shop and have them check the head surface for warpage and have it resurfaced regardless. Also, you may need to run mac shorty headers to clear the different spark plug angles!!!!!
