well the afr mission almost seems impossible! Everytime i have enough money for the damn things, insurance is due or tuition goes up or something stupid. One of my friends is giving me a set of gt40p heads and i was wondering if i had these heads ported out, valve job and milled with some beefier springs and a z cam, how would these go with my 331? I also just bought i nitrous system for the car....so i will be spraying 150-200

I wouldn't even consider putting a dime into them especially on a 331, at their maxed out point of porting and headwork, which will cost you a bundle, they probably won't be anywhere near a set of afr 185's or some of the other high end heads.

So you'll spend close to the same, and get far less.

Cnc work, hand porting, valve jobs, milling, bowl work, springs, it all adds up very quickly, before you know it, you are $1000 deep in a set of heads, still worth $500.

If afr's are too much, get yourself of set of wedges or edel rpms. At least if you desire more power after that, they can be reworked.

Gotta agree with 2000xp8 here as well. I have p heads on my pretty much stock motor and they are much better than the stock heads and I really like them especially for what I paid for them but I think that you would be shortchanging yourself with the P heads.

Personally I would take them and sell them and put that money towards a nice set of aluminum heads. but that is just me.

:nice: agree 100%

A buddy of mine has a set of low mile TFS heads for sale, they have the Track Heat spring upgrade I think he is asking $750, or a little under a $1000 with the 6.75" pushrods and 1.6" Scorpion rockers.

Put E7's back on until you can afford REAL heads.

Ricks friends deal for TW heads sounds real good for the money.

I thought about selling my TW heads too but i'm nothing more than a gear swap and weight reduction away from my goal so new heads aren't needed.

i did put the e7s back on......the low end torque is GREAT but up top i hate it.....so you think the e7s and a shot of nitrous will hold me over until i can afford heads and cam? Cam price really isnt a big deal but im not about to dump money into a spring upgrade on the e7s. I just dont want to get to the track and run 13.50s with 4.10 gears, 331ci, weight reduction out the a$$, sticky tires and 150 shot !

put the cleveland heads on it with a spyder fuel injection manifold from chp:D
the car is already carbed and YES the cleveland heads have crossed my mind, but they are bare and i would need to invest 900$ into them to get them to complete and that would not include a clevor intake

A place i know sells TFS High ports for 1189 shipped. you get the 1.460'', .600 lift springs bigger intake ports than the TW's. I am leaning towards these for my 331, anything have bad news about them? they do have 64cc chambers though...

well actually the z cam was only if i was going to use the p heads.......now if i can get my hands on a set of afrs (prays to god no random expenses pop up) i would like to go with a trick flow stage 2 or 3 cam....i have a truck and trailor so the car does not have to be driven everywhere. I want to have the car ready for world ford challenge. It runs fine now but something is missing oh well maybe the 150 shot will help things out next week ;)
