what are your thoughts on this upgrade? the throttle body is like 130 bucks and the adapter plate is about 90.

there isnt a ton written about exactly WHY the adapter plate is needed. the only thing i can find is that the adapter plate "perfectly centers" the TB in the TB bores of the intake... im thinking about just buying a new GT500 TB and trying to bolt it onto the car...

has anyone done this?

I designed my own adapter plate. Its made out of aluminum but is only 3/16 inch thick, not 1/2 inch thick like the BBK adapter. My car has a decorator cover over the manifold and if you use the 1/2 inch plate you have to toss the cover which is $90 in value, I wanted to keep that cover so I did my own measuring and found I could make an adapter plate that would allow the butterflies of the throttle body to open fully and keep my manifold cover as well. I have had mine on my car now for over a year without any issues. I also will say the GT500 throttle body is the best way to go, its a plug and play, it works with the current computer on board, and there is no adjustments to be made, except to have a new tune for the new throttle body. I read somewhere someone said that you do not get any gains from a throttle body, well that might be true when your engine is in the stock tune, but you get a race tune and that throttle body lets the gorilla out...not to mention with a CAI combination it really wakes the engine up...
