guage cluster problems

i have a similar problem--my odo doesn't work. i posted this thread before and the answer i got was that i needed to replace the entire cluster. i don't know how ione would go about adjusting the odo to reflect the actual milage, though.

really it is just something u have to live with i guess. mine went bad a while back and i had to replace the whole cluster. i went from having 120K miles on the speedo to 160K miles, and the odometer is broken on this one too. i dont know how we could go about fixing it but if someone knows how i am all for trying it.

All you need to fix the odometer are two plastic gears that go bad in the cluster. The only place I found them was at ODOMETERGEARS.com. They cost about 54 dollars shipped and are very easy to install.

Yep, I was going to say the same thing.

Take it apart and see what's broken. We would only be guessing since it could be a number of things.

Usually the gears are stripped, broken or missing. Who knows what the previous owner did to the car.

OK, thanks.

Its a one owner car, and it was a lady, so I doubt it was messed with too much. Looked like the origional plug wires on there even (when i bought it).

OK, so that may take care of the odo...but what about the tack and the trip odo? Its like a lot of things wrong at once. What all does the odo gear do? Does it control all that stuff?

Ill tear into it this weekend. Thanks for the help.
