Ok my motor/tranny combo are finally complete and are being broke in.
It has almost 400 miles on it now.
Here's the specs:
Year/model : 1986 Mustang GT
Chassis/Suspension : Sub-frame connectors,6 point roll bar (no door bars yet)
D&D K-member and A-Arms with D&D coil over kit,Koni shocks and struts,SSM traction bars,MAC rear springs and upper control arms,Comp. Eng. pinion snubber
Drivetrain : C4 full manual,3500rpm stall speed (stall wieght unknown),aluminum drive shaft with 1/2 inch spacer (to fit the C4 properlly),3.73 gears,Eaton locker,Moser 28 spline axels (4 lug),T.A. per. cover/girddle,C-Clip elims.
Wheel/Tires : street : M/T 26/10.5 Sportsman Pros,Track : M/T 26/10.5 ET DRAG,Weld drag lites,4inch skinnies up front.
Motor : 1974 351W,balanced,ARP rod bolts,KB Hyperutectic pistons,Hastings rings,ARP main studs,HV oil pump,7 quart moroso pan,ARP head studs,Fel-pro head gaskets,NAPA one piece rubber oil pan gasket,ARP oil pan bolts,Edelbrock double roller timing chain,Crane cam (unknown part num. exac same spec a TFS Stage 2 cam),Crane hydralic roller lifters,Manley pusrods,Scropion 1.6 rocker arms,Trick Flow Twisted Wedge with mild port and polish,Edelbrock Victor Jr. manifold,Barry Grant Speed Demon 750,BBK
1 3/4 headers,BBK 2.5 H-Pipe,Flowmasters
Ignition : MSD 6 AL,start retard box,adj. timing controller,MSD dist.,Taylor 8mm plug wires,Autolite plugs.
Misc. : Moroso battery box,Optima red top, plastic 12 gal fuel cell.
I figure about 450hp and around 450ft-lbs. of torque.
Does this seem reasonable? Or is that too high?
Also, how should I launch this car at the track.
I'm used to a five speed and the C4 is a little different.
I know the motor has more power than my 150 nitrous asst. 1986 5.0 motor (minor bolt on stuff) and that did a 7.90 (1/8 mile) with a stock clucht and non of the chassis stuff (exept the suspension components and sub-frame connectors),or the build rear end (had 3.73 gear).
The problem is on the street I try to power brake it and it starts to smoke tires at about 2000rpms,now I'm used to droping the clutch and not having wheel spin (atleast not badly). My torque converter is a 3500rpm stall speed and I'm not sure if the slicks will spin at the track when I power brake it before 3500rpm.Oh,I'm also gonna use a 150 shot of nitrous. Will this cause my tires to smoke just off the line when I hit WOT (the nitrous activats at WOT)? I'm not new to the track,my reaction times were averaging in the .510's (sprotsman tree). Any tip would help though.
Also what do you think it will run.
All help is appreciated.Thanks!
