Does anyone know the part # for the stock Overflow tank on the mustang, 1991...

No, but menards in NH will have em: 603-887-4049

When I went looking for overflow tanks, I realized that the stock replacement was $75 and a nice yummy billet chrome one was only $50!

I say get the aftermarket chrome one and be happy.

I threw in the summit one after I tossed mine out for the low low price of 14.50! ( and everyone thinks its a NOS tank )

Canton makes a direct replacement which bolts up to the stock loacation if you have the stock shroud. It's a tad on the expensive side at a hundred bucks but compared to the stock plastic one for 70... i didn't mind.

One question-

Do the afternmarket billet, aluminum, chrome ones have the recirculating feature and vent for proper usage when the rad calls for fluid or not? Or is just a plain overflow and thats it!

Mine.....sorry I dont recall the brand...moroso? ...anyway, mine has the feed hose on the bottom of this cylindrical cannister with a second open pipe coming up through the bottom that terminates near the inside top. So it will collect overflow and vent it but if it gets too high, it will puke it.

Couldnt we-

Say-If we buy a nice almuinum catch tank, and drill our own hole at the top side-So its vented and also has a hold to puke the fluid out as well. Whatta ya guys think?
i mean think about it, Our stock ones, have a hose on the bottom and the vent on top and thats it-Nothing specail, So why cant we hook it up that way-If its not vented-Right?

Well....technically......any container will work. Just stick the feed hose all the way to the bottom and leave the top open but not so open the fluid sloshes out. Then lash in place and you are in business. Hell, a 2L coke bottle would work too.....just wont win you any prizes at the carshow

With the canton, the feed tube goes into the bottom and there is a treaded bug at the top to leave it open or closed.
